... I see what you did there?

If it were an American show, I'm sure producers would not only not suspend the whole show, but probably relish the ratings spike they'd get from the news. Cf. how Charlie Sheen keeps getting rewarded.
Well Clarkson hasn't molested anyone (that we know of), so he's hardly in the running for worst UK broadcaster ever by a fair margin.
So, yeah, he has that going for him. =L

he is an english anachronism.
faetal on 11/3/2015 at 13:34
I would pay good money to see him slowly forced through a fine mesh.

That's uncommonly grisly for you, faetal. I have friends who'd join you, though. (I expect I might, if I actually knew him first hand.)

Yeah. I don't mean it. I just loathe his entire world view and worse still, how many people hold him as a straight-talking paragon who couldn't be righter.
I used to live in a shared house with a guy who watched every Top Gear ever and I remember one day when I was too hungover to move from the sofa, watching a special where Clarkson and Hammond raced to the North Pole - Clarkson in a giant phallic-compensating SUV and Hammond with huskies and sled. Clarkson predictably won - can't imagine that was fixed to happen regardless, no way they'd fudge a test in order to cater to the petrol-heads for their ratings (cough...tesla...cough); but that wasn't the annoying part. The annoying part came right before the credits, where Clarkson basically summated with something along the lines of "additionally, I noticed the ice was very thick and couldn't see any thin parts, therefore the Arctic ice is not thinning and global warming isn't real THE END".
That's exemplary of why I'd spend a Sunday evening watching slow-motion footage of him sliding panicked down an oiled tunnel into a loud industrial wood-chipper.

Preeeetty sure that's a joke. I've always taken his whole cranky oaf persona as just a character he's doing. Getting mad at Clarkson would be like getting mad at Homer Simpson, or Michael Scott.
I like the guy, and I'm sorry to hear this. The show relies
so much on the camaraderie and competition between the hosts, and without Clarkson in the mix it won't be the same.

Would be orders of magnitude funnier if people didn't take him seriously and parrot his viewpoints, oh and also if he hadn't spent years writing newspaper columns in this "persona", which were also taken seriously. I don't think it's a persona - I think he's a deranged right wing fucknut who puts everything through a BANTER filter in the hopes that it will make it feel somehow OK because it's (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgABbHPdwH4) just a joke. If you can be bothered to trawl through (
http://journalisted.com/jeremy-clarkson?allarticles=yes) this, you might appreciate just how vile he really is.
[EDIT] Sorry to chew your hand off, I really just dislike Clarkson.

Clarkson is an ass, but a very funny ass sometimes. Hey, I hate his pokes at the USA and Corvettes in general, but I am not offended by them. Why? Because I have a spine. Just wait. Gervais is the next on the PC chopping block.
Still, the guy supposedly punched out a producer and violence in the workplace is not tolerated. However, I bet the guy was buying a little smug shit and needed a smack! :joke:
