Yeah, I forgot about the panel pop-up, but it appears you found your answer.:)
Also, by the way, tanner is right:

The File Version is apparently different to the product version, and I've never understood these on executable files. The best bet is to just ignore those numbers, because obviously 1.9.0.0 is not a typical U.S. copy version. (right? This is an assumption, I'll admit.)
Interesting though: On my copy of thief.exe, the File Version is 1.9.0.0, yet under Other version information File Version says 1, 0, 0, 0 and
Product Version says 1.18. :)

Also, i'm not sure how much/little this relates to the version issue....but I just noticed the "ddfix" file that's around ((
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html)) and now it has left me wondering if i'm missing something about Thief on my modern PC or not. Should I consider downloading that? Any opinions?
I noticed it said if i'm using "1.18" there are additional advantages it provides -- but I don't know if i'm fine with "1.9.0.0" or not since I can't find info on it.
No, you're fine. If thief 2 runs fine by itself on your modern computer, you don't need ddfix. Ddfix is nice though. It fixes a lot of directx problems for the game on computers with directx9.0. (in the latest versions of ddfix, fog is back for example.) You should read Timeslip's description about ddfix. There's also stickies about ddfix on TTLG. It's really up to you whether you want to use ddfix or not... If your game doesn't have any issues (i.e. fog missing, grainy textures, horrible shadows) then there's no "need" for it. Afaik, someone correct me on this if needed, but what Timeslip meant by "there are additional advantages it provides," was that ddfix actually works with 1.18 and provides it's features whereas say version 1.07 or a copy protected thief2.exe will not provide ddfix features. If that makes any sense to you... I hope it does.
