ok when i played thief 3,there was a new race adde to game, those lizard like creatures,i would say i would have rather seen cray beast put into game or bug beast's
i have no idea why they had to go and add a entire new faction, that was nothing more then i think 1 level of game play and releasing one from a cell
i loved the thief 3 story as it tied in with thief 1/2, but the sluggish movement ruined game, imagine same game with the thief 2 engine, would have made game way better
i still dont get why they try to make game engines that move like that ,it is not even close to real, thief 1/2 had it right along with unreal tournament 1999 ,sad how games back then were better then what we got 10-14 years later

Craymen and mantises seems basically animals? Did they actually have sentience?
At least with craymen they seemed to live in remote places with no signs of culture or civilization. No artifacts of their own' or signs that they use artifacts.
Mantises seemed to be controlled drones.
Kurshock which I think were more fish men or amphibians than reptiles iirc (mermen)? At least has pretty developed culture. Letting one have a look into a precursors type culture with examples still alive.

you are correct but the reason why is looking glass did not go deep into charecter story for cra beast, bug beast, ratmen, ape beast, but my point was i think it would have been better to use the already done thing from thief 1/2 and have it added into thief 3 not to cut them 100% and add something new no one has any vested interest in,did you or anyone you know ever say "they better add kershit into thief 4" i am willing to bet they were forgotten after the thief 4 was shut off after you played game
i dont even think anyone has used them in a t3 fm? i might be wrong as i havent played any in a long time
also some people gave cray beast some back story in fan missions that played out real well like for example the cray beast were a worshipping race who hunted in the underground very protective of there area
bugbeast really never had a good backstory i seen yet in om or fan missions,i think spiders got more love
and ofcourse ratmen and apebeast are always kinda patrolling types, some fan missions used them in groups/villages but nothing to write home about
i guess deep down i wish they would use a fixed up version of thief 2 and use all elements from t1/g/2/3 the good things like special loot/cool side quests/etc into a real thief 4 game

Well I wanted Kurshok in Thief 4! They filled out the roster nicely in the old faction department.
For what I'll call the 'forces of order' you've got the Hammerites and their renegade offshoot the Mechanists while the 'forces of chaos' have the pagans/beasts with a renegade offshoot in the Kurshok.
Now all we need is a renegade offshoot of The Keepers who I will choose to call The Givers, who are dedicated to spreading forbidden and dangerous knowledge to as many people as possible.
My greatest regret is that no one ever made a functional Kurshok skin for TG or 2 FMs. Due to their clearly amphibious nature they have the makings of a really cool enemy in an underwater environment. Imagine flitting from air hole to air hole in a flooded cavern all the while trying to remain unnoticed as Kurshok and Craymen battle it out in flooded ruins beneath you.
As much as FM makers like to reference Lovecraft in their works (just realised the last five missions I've played have all included that damn Cthullhu statue) the Kurshok seem shockingly under utilised.
Oh and there were Kurshok in the Krelleks Labyrinth TDS fm, so it's nice to see someone sees the potential in them.

Wasn't Gammal more or less a renegade Keeper? But rather to keep and protect the glyphs to maintain balance she abused the for her own personal gain, cheat death. Also wasn't one of the subplots being that keepers had essentially become corrupted and started going away from their original purpose. As well as more trying to interfere more directly with society to increase their own power. Despite having a policy non-interference in normal matters letting fate take its course. Of course Garrett had always been sort of the maverick.

I remember there being lots of water in Sunken Citadel. All of it shallow though... Can't have a player going where they'd die due to the game's lack of swimming, I suppose... and no rope arrows to get across.
