ok lets get right to the meat of my post
i really like when i am in a mission and you come across a readable to go on a side quest=calendras legacy mission 2,where you have to find the 3 eyes, necklace and spell book,i was able to travel around entire city to find stuff all over ,made it real difficult but amazing and not even part of main quest,100% optional
i hope to see more stuff like that in future missions,as it make missions have so much more play value
are there any other missions that have a serious sidequests?
i did remember a very old mission had marks around the city, not the one where you active them, but one where you got clues where they were, one i remember was by a poor part of town =mission where you trail some guy who drops a key you have to enter his house,in the town you walk through there are 2 oblong shaped pipe type things and once iniside a dead end but if you turn around there is a certain mark you find,i like stuff like that
do you all enjoy having a mission with the stuff i mentioned?

The swamp mission is more side quest than main quest. :D

I agree, side quests are a great way of adding an extra level of fun and complexity to a mission, without making the mission to difficult or confusing to players who wish to simply complete the basic objectives.
My biggest bug bear with some modern mission is that some authors think it's clever to make their missions as complex as they can manage.
Personally I prefer simple missions, do that, go there, find that, solve that puzzle, end of game.
But with side quests you have both the replayability factor thrown in, as well as an Easter Egg feeling of...wow this is cool.
Ps. As for Unna's suggestion of Raid of Washout Central, yes, a great FM, as are all of belboz's missions. An author with a wonderful sense of humour, clever design and yes complex missions. So much so I cringe when I need to make a loot list for his missions, it takes days to work out some of his more devious puzzles. Even so, Steven Hindley, we miss you. :D
