So I take it this is from Wikipedia? (can't be arsed to look) If so it just shows what is wrong with Wikis - people can write tosh on them. Pratchett is just writes immature Douglas Adams rip-offs set in a fantasy world which were funny when you were 14 and hadn't really read all that much or developed a proper sense of humour but which are in actual fact tedious rehashes of the same ol' same ol' (predictable) jokes. In short, he sucks.
While I agree with the sentiments, what you just said does not belong in an encyclopedia any more than "[Terry Pratchett] is also generally regarded as one of the finest satirists currently writing in the English language" does.

I feel sorry for you. But: To each his own.
It's true, though, I read them when I was fourteen and found them hilarious, but I still do read them, and the books get better and better.
There is a lot of puerile jokes in the early books but also some quite sarcastical or ironic bits.
One critic once said that it was "sad" that he was labeled as a fantasy author because that keeps many people from reading his books. If his books were to be labeled as satire he would be read by a lot more people.
I thought there a quite a few moments in the books where I thought: Wonder if he ever played Thief.
And I count Pratchett among the best authors

Wow. I never realized what dire, horrible, indescribably deficient taste you have.
Eh, learn something new every day I guess.

Has anyone played the Discworld PC games when they were younger? Woo. I am having a little nostalgia trip here! :D

Different strokes for different folks. I read two Prachett books. One was fun the other "ho hum".
A touch like Piers Antony in a way, but not as gripping. Although the later Piers have gotten a bit sloppy.

I've read and enjoyed each and every discworld novel, all 34 of them.
Big surprise that he's a Thief FM fan. Hmmm, maybe we can get him to do some writing for our Dark Mod campaign...
