I've thought about making this thread for a long time so here goes...
Name any Group/album/Song and list the lyrics that contain something 'Thief' related.
311/311/not sure song name:
"gonna steal a moment like a thief and make it mine..."
Pepper/unsure which album/Point and Shoot:
"I'm exactly where I want to be,
Like a thief inside a robbery..."
Jimi Hendrix/???/All along the Watch Tower (not sure it's his song)
unsure of lyrics, I'm sure someone knows but a thief is mentioned
That's all I have for now.

Tell me this Sting song doesn't sound like Thief (especially the first three verses):
After the Rain Has Fallen (from the Brand New Start album)
The palace guards are all sleeping
Their fires burn into the night
There's a threat of rain on the dark horizon
And all that's left is a quarter moon of light
He climbs up through the darkness
No weapon but his surprise
The greatest thief in the high Sahara
Enters the room where a sleeping princess lies
All your money, your pretty necklace
This is my work on such a night
There's a storm coming over the mountain
I'll be gone long before the morning
Chorus:
After the rain has fallen
After the tears have washed your eyes
You find that I've take nothing, that
Love can't replace in the blink of an eye
He was as gentle as the night wind
As no lover had been before
And the rings she wore for her bride groom
Slipped from her fingers and fell to the floor
Take me with you, take me with you
Before my lonely life is set
I've been promised to another
To a man I've never even met
She said take me to another life
Take me for a pirate's wife
Take me where the wind blows
Take me where the red wine flows
Take me to the danger
Take me to the life of crime
Take me to the stars
Take me to the moon while we still have time
After the rain has fallen
After the tears have washed your eyes
You'll find that I've take nothing, that
Love can't replace in the blink of an eye
After the thunder's spoken, and
After the lightning bolt's been hurled
After the dream is broken, there'll
Still be love in the world

Genesis - Home by The Sea
Creeping up the blind side, shinning up the wall
Stealing thru the dark of night
Climbing thru a window, stepping to the floor
Checking to the left and the right
Picking up the pieces, putting them away
Something doesnt feel quite right
Help me someone, let me out of here
Then out of the dark was suddenly heard
Welcome to the home by the sea
Coming out the woodwork, thru the open door
Pushing from above and below
Shadows but no substance, in the shape of men
Round and down and sideways they go
Adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair
Then as one they sign and they moan
Help us someone, let us out of here
Living here so long undisturbed
Dreaming of the time we were free
So many years ago
Before the time when we first heard
Welcome to the home by the sea
One of my fav's that they do. There's more to that song, you get the jist of it. Always thought that had a thiefy feel to it.

ha, cool idea for a thread...gotta say I've never heard anything that even resembles "thievy" lyrics...
...I should reevaluate my music choices:o

Up on the rooftops
Out of reach
Trickster is meaningless
Trickster is weak
Radiohead, "Trickster"
Also, thanks to a certain fan-made music video I will forever associate "Timelessness" by Fear Factory with Thief.

Wow, those examples make mine look bad :(
:D
I've only heard a few one liners but those examples really do sound like a description of Thief the Series.

unsure of lyrics, I'm sure someone knows but a thief is mentioned
I believe that was Bob Dylan's originally.
But the lyric...
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I have been through that and this is not our fate
So let us stop talking falsely now
The hour's getting late

For Taking the Trouble
Words and Music by Jackson Browne
For taking the trouble, for hanging on and tryin'
Now you've been working through the rubble of a shattered mind
Yeah Baby, tell me why the tears are falling from your eye
Tears of laughter, tears of grief, are they the tears of a captured thief?
You thought that you were home free, thought you had her well in hand
But there were things about her you didn't understand
Yeah Baby, tell me how you're gonna keep that promise now?
To live your life without regret and make it work with what you get
-The Dylan lyric is also "There must be some way out of here, said the joker to the thief".

Thieves, by Ministry
Thieves, thieves and liars, murderers
Hypocrites and bastards
Hey thanks for nothing!
Morals in the dust
Two-faced bastards and syncophants
No trust
Thieves! liar!
Inside, outside, which side, you dont know
My side, your side, their side, we dont know
Which side are they? which side are they?
Which side of their mouth do you suppose that it came?
Which side are they? which side are they?
Which side of the grass is greener?
Inside, outside, which side, you dont know
My side, your side, their side, we dont know
(I'll leave the rest out... ;) )

The more obvious choice:
All hail to the thief
But I'm not!
Don't question my
Authority or put me
In the dock
Cozimnot!
Go & tell the king that
The sky is falling in
When it's not
Maybe not."2+2=5" - Radiohead
