I dunno. Impossible Creatures was just kinda meh. Interesting concept, but there wasn't enough done with it.
I'm gonna give this a try and see how it plays. I've been burned out on RTS games for awhile now, but this one seems to have enough people slobbering over it to give it a consideration at least.

Hence "seriously misstep"
and no MP for me until I get used to the tech trees, MrD.

That was the most sucktastic demo install I've ever ran across. Just clicking on the exe ate up all but 6 meg of my 1.5 gig of ram, and took about 30 minutes just to install. Considering it ate up all my memory, my comp wasn't good for anything other than listening to the harddrive thrash that entire time.
And after all that it forgot a few key dll files, so I'm not able to play it. Bleh. :(

Got it. Ran it. Patched it.
My system creaks every time it has to contend with the game. Granted, a 6800 GT ain't exactly heavy artillery, but Oblivion isn't bad at all with it, and that's with HDR on and distance settings maxed.
Relic has a track record for pushing the envelope as far as PC requirements go. I remember getting not much love with the original Homeworld on my first PC. It was a mess when I ran it on a 2MB PCI graphics 'accelerator'. But then I got a TNT Riva.
Have I mentioned that Homeworld is my favourite RTS of all time?
CoH isn't Homeworld, but with most settings on high - and those damn trees on low - it's lovely. I can't say its graphics are FPS-worthy, because to my eyes there still are rough edges. That just might be the quality settings, though - I don't run the game on 'Ultra'.
This game has plenty of character. I like how it's friendly yet difficult, demanding more than just resource capturing and tank-rushing. It's a bit like Homeworld that way: @!#$% difficult, but rewarding when you finally see that 'Mission Successful' message.

Does anybody know if the AI cheats by being able to see where your forces are even though they're in his fog of war? I've been playing the demo and I swear that damn computer isn't legit...
Other than that (and a little micromanagement crap) the game is pretty sweet, and runs great on my junky computer! Though I wish the game was set in a post-apocalyptic setting or something other than freakin WWII!

I played the demo and was instantly turned off. I guess I expected it to be more of a realistic war simulation game - like Close Combat, instead of an action-RTS. Its just a bit too arcade for me, but as an arcade game its really good.

Well, all I can say as of playing the demo, is that it looks like they've done away with the 'tactics' of Dawn of War. 'Tactics' that chiefly involved:
1) OK, my guys are shooting at his guys.
2) His guys go all CC on mine
3) My guys run away.
4) His guys run away too or chase
5) Two thirds of our respective armies are chasing eachother like retards.
I'm not yet sure as to whether or not this game has deep strategical (Unit-selection-wise) choices yet, but if it does, I'll probably be buying it.

They have that in DoW? That sounds cool, you should station traps or reinforcements for your fleeing army.
