I just bought it in the amazing Steam sale. $2.50!!! I am anxious, as when it was new I had a 1.8 GHz Sempron and a 9800 PRO... I have always heard great things about it, and am anxious to jump in.
Any quick tips from the vets for a person completely fresh to the game?

Can't call myself much of a vet, BUUUT....sticky bombs, AA-guns and panzershrek teams.
Cheap-ish anti-tank units/weapons, oh yes. And -always- try to attack'em from behind, were the armor's weak.
:)

That strat is a but old fashioned isn't it? Haven't the updates nerfed it? PE blobs wreck engineers now. Besides, against Wehr you'll face mgs.
Learn some of the common cheap strategies, like pio spam, and how to counter them.

No sir, works a treat against lvl 10-11s. Now if they're expecting out the gate that it's 4ES they can put the brakes on whatever they were planning and work hardcore to counter it, but a lot of the time they're expecting a rax start with riflemen. You will lose against a player suspicious of a 4ES start, but it rapes those who aren't expecting it.

It needs very good mine placement and you have to pray vehicles hit them and not infantry.
I'm currently playing as brits only and boy is it tough.

I would be most grateful if you didn't confuse the decent game that Company of Heroes is with the failed abortion of Company of Heroes Online.
Thank you in advance.

I got it bundled with my 8800 GT a couple years ago. And I didn't get to playing it because I remember having to download all the patches in sucession and there were like 10 of them, and they werent small.
If you can find a consolidated update, I think you'll be happy.

Yeah went ahead and bought the whole bunch for $12.50. Couldn't resist.
That said, not playing just yet. I have to be in the right mood.
