Wow! Talk about timing. I've just started to play Oblivion and the very first thing that popped into my head, is that someone could make a really good Thief game with this.
Scruggs has already made the Thieves Arsenal: (

In fact, I was just about to ask if anybody had ever considered doing a Thief type 'total conversion' with the Oblivion Construction Set.
Now I hear that Bethesda themselves are considering doing this, this makes me very, very happy :cheeky:. I just pray and pray that they keep the third person option (cause I really do hate first person games :eww:).
Thanks for sharing the good news.

If these companies seem so interested in making a new Thief game, why don't they go out and hire the original team, at least the ones willing to go to work on one? I'm sure a project like that would throw the fan community into a joy-induced seizure.

I don't know about you guys and girls, but I actually DO trust Beth to get this right. As they say, once you hit bottom (DS) the only way to go is up.
Oh come ON! TDS was nowhere near the bottom, something you'll realize when you think about how craptacular it could have been. Seriously, it may not have been the best in the series or lived up to Thief Gold or The Metal Age, but c'mon.
Also, I would actually like to see a continuation of the series, even if it's "finished". But I hope (as someone in the topic already mentioned) that the new developers, if there are going the be any, don't confuse assassins with thiefs.

oh, f2c I thought you were komag. You know, he n david both put things behind them forgive forget deal, but I guess I was wrong.
Yeah, but I am looking forwards to F3, so if these blatantly false rumors don't come true (double negetive?) at least I will have that to fall on.

They can't. Lulu Lamer is still pissed at her T3 experience, Randy and Warren don't really get along since he got fired by Spector, and a bunch of other guys and girls are now working for other firms. You think they're just going to drop everything they've been doing for the last three years and take on another Thief? Dream on. Besides, they've already paved the way. Others with the same drive and vision can elaborate and push it further.

I'll bite and assume you're not being funny.
Bethseda make the hideously bland Elder Scrolls games. Emil Pagliarulo was a designer for Looking Glass before moving on to Bethseda and working on one of the few worthwhile parts of vanilla TES: Oblivion - the Dark Brotherhood guild.

If any company would do Thief 3, I would like it to be Bethesda. They are a great developer. But even if it gets beyond Rumor stage it still might get canceled, like Stargate did. = [

Morrowind wasn't bland. It had loads of character. It was fun as hell to play too.
