To get some EAX support I put my old SB Live 5.1 (model SB0102) into the celeron+voodoo1 box I built for Thief - but apparently this is an OEM card, and the official Creative driver does not support it. The only driver I could find (for Win98!) does not contain any setting utility - therefore the back speakers are silent.
So if anyone has a full Win98 driver for this card, please let me know. Or another way to get EAX :-)
