I have Aureal's Vortex 2 sound card (A3D) and I have some problems with Deus Ex. At start, it was all fine.
But then I messed around with some settings -- filter, spatial, reverb in the Deusex.ini and enabled EAX and Geometric Reverb in the Sound card drivers. I wasn't satisfied with the results of any of the settings I tried, so I turned all of them back as they were.
But now the sound is all messed up - I can't here even explosions very well if they're not right in front of me and solid objects on the way (walls, columns etc.) also almost completely silence the sounds.
My guess is that the Galaxy driver is still trying to use geometric reverb even though I disabled it. I tried turning off and on the hardware sound from deus ex, but that didn't help.
I want the old reverbless positional audio back! What should I do? Just reinstall Deus Ex?

Yea -- reinstall will prolly fix it.
I don't know about everyone else, but i like to make copies of my save games and then move them to a different directory just to make sure that they don't get deleted by accident.

No - reinstall didn't help. I also downloaded the SP patch and that didn't fix it either.
Actually, I think it might be a driver issue. I did a clean install to the system a while back and I can't remember if the sound problems actually started after the clean install or after me messing with the settings. But I installed the SAME sound driver that I had always had.
Damn the PC-s. I'll probably turn to consoles soon. I'm getting really frustrated with all the hardware/software problems.

As if this wasn't enough, now I have to play Deus Ex in OpenGL, because in DirectX most textures get messed up after approx. 5 minutes of play -- they are incorrectly positioned and the edges look like combs. Not sure what caused it. I tried reinstall again and without the patch but the problem didn't disappear.
I have a Radeon (latest drivers)

kill the 3dhardware option in the deusex.ini it'll use directsound3d which is accelerated anyway. leave the spatial on and the rate at 44100 and 16 channels
