Hi. I'm having a very annoying problem with Theif III - namely, that certain kinds of sounds (often when an enemy says something, but other stuff too) cause my soundcard to make a constant noise, consisting of the rapid repetition of an element of the sound originally made; so it ends up sounding like a pneumatic drill!!!! (DRRRRRR-DGDGDGD-DRRRRRRR....) I've got a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS, which I think should easily do the job. I've updated the card's drivers, and I've patched the game - but still no joy.
Part of the game's charm is in sneaking around and keeping quiet, so this abominable din ruins the whole thing!!! Can anyone heeeeeelp... ?

Try:
Disabling / Enabling EAX
Disabling CD-Audio

I have the same card, and I get rid of those noises configuring the EAX settings in thief control panel. But I cannot hear garret's footsteps. Do you hear them?
