I played both dungeon sieges with friends coop and we got about 2 hours into each. They were both boring as all hell, how they spawned a movie and a "spiritual successor" I have no idea. Dont you have to have a good game to need a spiritual successor? Cant it just be a clone?

If you siege one dungeon this summer...

Given that I bought Dungeon Siege solely for the purpose of running U5: Lazarus, I can't say that this project is filling me with excitement.

Looks like I am not the only one. Except I ended up not playing Lazarus in the end due to inadequate time. :p

Hah, same with me so far, but at least it's now there whenever I feel like it.

Well, the game isn't bad per se, just incredibly bland and generic. A generic space battle intro movie, a generic main character, generic enemy aliens, etc. There's no real artistic flair to any of the environments, the AI of enemies and companions is bog-standard, and from what little there was to see of the story (which, admittedly, was very little) it seems to be a standard 'humanity vs. the alien hordes' thing - not particularly well written, at that. On top of that, everything felt a bit sluggish; primarily the camera, but also the walking animation of the main character. As for the camera, it lets you rotate and zoom in and out, which in itself seems a bit superfluous; I'm thinking a stationary camera (or one that lets you switch between 4 different angles - think Sim City) would have worked just as well.
There are a couple of neat touches, like the ability to instantly pick up all items in your immediate vicinity at the press of a button (which should cut down on the loot click-fest found in e.g. Diablo 2). The RPG-system seems quite expansive for an action RPG, with many different abilities to unlock, and the possibility of upgrading most of your armour and weaponry; though I was a bit concerned that installing just two cybernetic limbs reduced my humanity by a total of 30%, which makes me wonder how much you can really modify your main character.
All in all, the game is just very... perfunctory.

Hmnn. That was already in Dungeon Siege. The Z key if I remember correctly.

Wouldn't know about that, never played DS2.
