While I think this is a sign of how women are being oppressed in Christian religion and how masochism is deeply ingrained into it, into which CDD just fits like rubber glove, in the end it is their business what two consenting adults do, whether they do it for sexual pleasure or to keep up their disparate power structure, or both, doesn't really matter. Of course you'd want to make sure, the wife always knows she can leave this abusive relationship, eg by offering institutionalised help, even if I suspect not many will make that move, given the surrounding mindset of guilt, shame and punishment.

This isn't particularly new, but this stuff is hard to keep up with. They must have just done a big PR drive or something.

Yeah, this stuff has been around for donkey's years (and yes, it is totally real). I remember that there were websites and such in the mid-2000s or thereabouts that explicitly constructed a Christian form of BDSM, but I think the language of CDD has become more prevalent since then. I'm not really sure how much of it is an excuse for Christians to do BDSM and how much of it is basically ritualised domestic violence (or if some of it is actually experienced as primarily spiritual or the like), but I'm pretty sure that both of those can be found in the wild.

If you are feeling sinister go off and see a minister. He'll try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever.
