True, they seem to combine the strength of a bodybuilder along with the endurance of a boxer.

HITLER'S BRAIN.

I created this thread as a little fun speculation, not for people to play troll-welcome to my ignore list Zylon.

I don't see how Zylon describing the Hammerites counts as being a troll.
Though I do think that 'Hitler's brain' part of the description actually better suits Karras and his crazy fun 'Let's go slaughter entire Pagan villages!' Mechanists.

Oh goodie, another lackwit who doesn't know what the word "troll" means.

I've seen him cut down people a lot, I'd prefer just removing him from view-it's more civilized than using a chainsaw.;)

Indeed, I remember luring zombies into areas where hammers were guarding-much fun!:ebil:

Does anyone tried the differences between hammer-Hammers and sword-Hammers. I mean, I've fought both types of haunts and TDP-version lacks the "Grand Slam"-attack (the same that smaches zombies to tiny bits) and probably living Hammers lack it also. Is this compensated (right word?) in any way, like increased agility? Hammer-wielders do seem slower and clumsy.

I read somewhere that the Hammers origionally used swords until they were forced back into the now-Haunted Cathedral by an attacking army. (Note that this was not the time when the Cathedral was haunted.) They were running low on weapons and so started to use the sledgehammers as an alternative. They eventually were saved from another army, and then decided that the sledgehammers were more appropriate. However, they burried the sword-weilding hammers in the Cathedral with their old weapons, as a way of respecting the old times.
Many years later, when the eye rose the undead, the ghosts of the old sword-weilding Hammers were risen as well, meaning that the sword weilding Haunts are much older than the others, as well as faster. Also this explains why the Haunts in the catacombs use hammers not swords, because they aren't from the Cathedral.
This doesn't, however, explain why there is a random, living Hammer armed with a sword in TDS. :weird:

Where in TDS is there a Hammer wielding a sword?
Out of curiousity... I guess I never noticed...
It is alot easier (in thief) to fight maces and hammers, I think. You can usually block them every time.
For some reason the swords in the game just "decide not to be blocked" sometimes it seems...When the guards do fancy moves that you cant do.
