I am fairly new to Morrowind, and haven't got very far with the storyline. I much prefer to wander around the countryside and slaughter hermits. More on that later.
While browsing the speedrun archive, I came across this:

and was duly impressed.
There are a few things I don't understand though - why was it required to make quite so many Intelligence potions? Was it so that the later potions (which I didn't see the names of) could be made more easily?
Hermit slaughter doesn't provide much opportunity for practical alchemy, so all I know about crafting is what I picked up from that PC Gamer arcticle about the ring of uber Invincibility.

i'm kinda new to the game (as in havent beat it yet but i've played for a couple months) but the way it goes is that the strength and time duration of potions made by alchemy depends on the intelligence of the maker. having a huge intelligence makes potions like Fortify Health 1000 for 3000 seconds, and even stronger than that!! these potions basically make you invinsable

Daniel's got it spot on. If it weren't for him fortifying his intelligence, he couldn't have beaten the game as quick as he did. (Though I will mention that to beat the game, you need only to:
Retrieve Keening and Sunder, then go off towards Dagoth Ur. You don't need to be named nerevarine, nor do you need the Wraithguard. The Wraithguard is needed only to protect you from the weapons - Protection that several Exclusive Restore Health Potions taken at once can emulate.
That teaches me to jump the gun. Seems he did that ;)

Oh and fortify health potions aren't a good idea, cause you die when they run out.

You'll all be happy to know that the game has been done in seven and a half minutes... (
http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=pcgames;action=display;num=1118551735;start=60) link here. Unfortunately it's not currently available, but it should be soon, and enough people have commented on its quality to assure me that it exists. The highlights are apparently the use of the Icarian Flight scrolls, and the complete lack of potion scumming.
