Uh... yeah, I don't think we're going to get an 'old-school' - i.e. one focused on stealth - Splinter Cell soon:

Oh dear.

That's exactly what I want out of a new Splinter Cell game - even less stealth, explosions and Nolan North or whoever the fuck that is as Fisher.
Malf on 4/6/2012 at 20:28
WTF is that?
That's not my Splinter Cell :nono:

It's Detective McDreamy from Rookie Blue, aka Grey's Anatomy in a Toronto police station.

Eric Johnson. Probably would make a fine voice actor for a new NSA agent kind of guy, but not for Sam Fisher, Ironside is Sam Fisher. Of course it is too much to ask for Ubi to simply let the series die with Conviction, instead of letting it sink to the bottom first. Not entirely sure how they could possibly seal its fate any better with Ironside out of the picture but I'm sure they will find a way and later announce the 7th game; Splinter Cell: Crazy Golf.

Haha you guys, this is just the logical conclusion for Splinter Cell. SC has always been a dudebro franchise, especially once multiplayer got involved.
Thirith on 5/6/2012 at 16:33
Perhaps I don't understand what you mean by "dudebro", but if I remember correctly Splinter Cell - both SP and MP - was praised pretty universally up to and including Chaos Theory, at which point two thirds of the IP had some form of multiplayer. Chaos Theory is even liked by quite a few Thief/Deus Ex fans - quite possibly more than Deadly Shadows. How does dudebroism (which I would've assumed to be the frat boy headshots-and-fist-bumps attitude in games) come into it?

Well, it's a bit like Assassin's Creed in that way, you know? The franchise is heavily marketed towards the Skylar Popcollar crowd, what with being console-centric (hell the original was an xbox1 exclusive for a while) and Ubisoft have only been playing that up more and more, (
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/05/e3s-press-events-do-not-represent-the-gaming-i-know/) like the rest of the industry. They don't care if they attract the "immersive sim" crowd because the games were never made with such people in mind. The series is Metal Gear Solid for the Halo crowd.
