Pity it's better than almost anything that's come out lately.

EvaUnit ordered it from PlayAsia for 360 and I will be renting it to co-op with him...at least we aren't stuck with the gimped ass FUCKING SIXTY $ USD PC version. :nono::nono::nono:

(
http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/214761/splinter-cell-conviction/) Here's an interview with Ubi Montreal's Creative Director Maxime Beland explaining why the game was delayed for so long and restarted from scratch, an interesting read. He goes into detail why the franchise's focus was taken away from pure stealth and into action game territory.

The best thing to do is to rush out and buy this despite the fact that it will be a shitfest. That'll show those publishers hell-bent on fagging up video games!
So have you actually played Conviction? Only idiots judge a game without having played it.
Keep trying though, perhaps one day the intelligence levels of your trolls will be on par with ZylonBane's quality snipes (highly doubtful though).

Good fun, SC was never a stealth-game but a game based on stealth, fun to perfect a mission and pretend it is, or fool your buddy who watches you play into thinking it is. Latest SC deserves more praise.

the fact that they designed the missions for you to kill EVERYBODY makes it much more statisfying to pull it off with no kills and no detection even if the levels themselves are not that good. SC is a few nice setpieces, a more coherent story and - imo - a better game than the PC-version of DoubleAgent. I will certainly replay a few sections and see if I can sneak through using no gadgets and no distractions......should be not that easy.

thanks for your commentary though, it was a veritable social enema!

One has to wonder why is it that Maxime Beland feels so obliged to turn everything he touches into brainless shooters. Like we didn't have those already. What they had going on before he turned up sounded rather interesting. Also he uses terms such as "mature" and "geopolitical" in the interview when the storyline has nothing to do with either of them.

Yeah but what isn't satisfying is that after going through a lot of trouble to remain unseen, crappy scripting makes the baddies magically know of Sam's presence. Also, AFAIK, there's only one level which can be totally ghosted.

And that's another irritating thing about this game; in order to replay some section, you have to watch through the sometimes annoyingly long cutscenes.
The mark and execute works rather nicely though IMO.

Fuck that part with the receptionist. And the Iraq flashback, which shouldn't be in this game at all.
It just feels like a stealth game for people who hate stealth games.
