Which is the better version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, the one for the original Xbox or the "next gen" version for PC/360/PS3?
I've read that the Xbox1 version by Ubi Montreal is closer in style to the first three games than the "next gen" version, which is said to be more actiony.
Thanks in advance.

I'd say the Xbox1 version is the better one, though I've only played the PC version. Nextgen versions are not more actiony than the others, but the lastgen level design is closer to the first three games. Also, lastgen versions have proper Coop mode. Whatever you do however, avoid the PC version if you can.

What specifically is bad about the PC version? If you mean checkpoint saving, then I'm perfectly fine with that.

I think the problem is that it is just plain buggy. It was a real pain in the ass for me to even get the game to start. After I had to reformat my computer I couldn't get the game to start at all using the same tricks.
If I remember correctly the game would also not let me map the keys to the same bindings I used for the other games.
The few levels I did get to play seemed ok but I never really had the chance to get to far into it to get a good idea.

Yes, it's a really bad port, with lots of compatibility problems with certain hardware, bad performance, graphical glitches, crashes, savegames getting corrupted, etc. There's a chance that you won't run into any of these, but if you can get the game for some other platform, I woundn't suggest taking the risk with the PC version.

The original XBOX version is one of my all-time favorite games. Very fun.

The PC version does differ from the other nextgen versions however - it is harder. The enemies see and hear better and the levels are more lit, sometimes there are even additional light sources compared to the XboX360 version. Also, the trust- and stealth score penalties are more severe. I like this and I consider it an advantage over the X360 version.

I just bought double agent for the 360 because of all the problems I had with the PC version. My 360 crashed for the first time ever during the tutorial. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
