As a website fighting to stay alive, we HAVE to use the popups, otherwise we will die, and TTLG will be gone. Ad banners earn us no money (not anymore). The popups do earn us money, money to pay our server fees.
Ad Banners Only = No Income = TTLG Dies
Popups = Income = TTLG Lives
Sad but true.
