So I played Spore for about 12 hours (... straight) yesterday. Went from a cell phase to the galactic stage. I have to say, it's pretty cool. I found it highly enjoyable, if a tad bit easy even though I started on 'normal.'
I'm not sure if it's because I was an aggressive race or not, but I'm finding the galactic stage to be pretty difficult. The only ally I managed to make was with the Bananaz Empire (they are giant talking bananas). And all they did was talk about how cowardly they are.
I'm also pretty angry. The Sporepedia has over 3,000,000 creatures in it. Yet I saw two of the same creatures on two completely different planets. Worse yet, I saw two of the same sentient creatures with two different empires (but named the same).
I keep seeing a lot of creatures that I personally made. Is there an option somewhere to say, 'Download any and all creatures you want from the Sporepedia' ?

So far it's crashed on me twice in the Civilisation stage, and it doesn't appear to autosave after taking over a city, so I'm kind of ticked off.

Im trying to play as an herbivore and finding it tough in creature stage.

I find that quite frustrating too. I'm not sure what's causing it, but looking at the download dates of the creatures it currently has it appears to have completely stopped getting new ones after the few first days I played. Now I keep running into the same creatures all over.

Brian Eno's soundtrack is wonderful, but of course none of the reviewers could care less about it.

It has a lot to do with how the majority of creatures have been made, warlike carnivores are apparently much more common than other species. At least, that's what I've gathered from reading other fora.

Hello, what's this? I have no interest in the game itself, but I could go for a sampling of the Eno soundtrack.

Actually isn't the soundtrack supposed to be procedural as well? So it's always different (although generally similar in stages and situations, probably).

My opinion after finishing the game once is that spore is a fantastic set of sandbox editors (cell, creature, vehicle and space) wrapped in easy, boring, repetitve and sub-par gameplay.
Hardly worth the glowing reviews it's getting, but a fun toy.
