who cares who makes thief 4....surelythere is enough talent here for it to be made here.....Create the Thief 4 team.......they create the story....then each dromedeer, makes a level for the game, but they have to stick to their particular bit of the story....and maybe we can donate an amount of money for it to be downloaded....and then Thief 5 can be made..with the next team who wish to partake..ad infinitum!!:cheeky: Yes I am serious :cheeky:
To be honest, fan moding is one of the few possibilities for making another installment of Thief - albeit unnoficial. Anything in the vein of "(semi-)official" would have to at least erase all direct references to the game's established universe - something like the devs behind the DarkMod have done (Builders = Hammerites, belchers = burricks, the Inventor's Guild is a slight homage to the Mechanists, etc. etc.).
Anyway, I hope to start toying around with one of the editors during the rainier days of the summer holidays... Maybe in time, I could get to work on my beloved vision of a 1930s Thiefverse. Total conversions featuring Batman/ninjas/go-kart racing/anythingnotgarrettbutcool have proven to be fully possible in DromEd, so I have high hopes. ;)

Reading that article, if I had to choose between Square Enix and Time Warner ... I mean say what you will about Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts, but the game list for (
http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025072.html) TimeWarner Interactive is laughable (or is it (
http://www.wbie.com/games.html) this? Doesn't matter; they both suck). Nothing is so bad it couldn't have been worse.
But aanyway, nothing I've read makes me think they have a good reason to stop Eidos Montreal in its tracks now.

They haven't really started, either.:erg: When's DX3 due out?

You're familiar with the
batman demo right?:cheeky: You really could get to work on a 30's style game.... And yeah, I've been looking forward to typeRED's theif-kart, though I have no clue if he'll ever finish it.
Thanks clearing for that link!!!!!!!!!! :O :thumb:

Dude, I hope this doesn't kill Thief 4 or worse, mutate it into something that makes Deadly Shadows look good.

GamesIndustry.biz has word that though Eidos is now officially part of Square Enix, it will continue to operate as a separate brand, and will remain an "independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings." Word is Phil Rogers will continue as CEO of Eidos reporting directly to Yoichi Wada, President and CEO of Square Enix Holdings, who has this to say: "This is an exciting beginning to what I believe will be an incredible journey. I am very happy that Phil Rogers has agreed to lead Eidos in what I see as an international marriage between our two companies, a marriage that will give birth to great things. Eidos is a content rich company and a culturally significant business to the Square Enix group." On the other hand, MCV also quotes Wada saying they are expecting this independence to offer a pretty rapid return on their investment: "We would not have taken this decision to buy Eidos unless we thought that we could get our investment back within two to three years. If we had thought it would take five years, for example, then we wouldn't have made the acquisition."

That should quell the fears of a spiky-haired, androgynous, child-man Garrett.:thumb:
