Yes, but even bureaucratic idiots can see that'd never work. A Thief 4 might end up as a virtually stealthless action-adventure, and still be ruined, but it's never going to end up as a turn-based RPG. It's more likely to be canned altogether than that happening.
As Einstein once said: (note, I paraphrased)
"There are two things that are infinite in this world, the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not so sure about the universe."

...Informed opinion...
Long story short, I'd say this is a good thing for most Eidos franchises
except Thief.
Agree with everything you said.

Jesus.
What about Hitman 5? The new Deus Ex prequel?
Eidos Montreal is going to be doing it's own thing, right?
Right?!

I suppose the only thing we can do is hope for the best, hmm?

while all this sounds like bad news to me, i must say i don't like some of the things people are saying.. If you think Anime is anything other then Animated shows (In fact, the style is named after the Comics 'Manga' most of the time) and you think that style is just the 90s spikey hair and watered down stuff for yanks, your guys are missing stuff dating back way into the 50s... Oh well, i don't wanna get into a fight here... I'll just end up with me doing my normal trick of getting fed up and shutting the door on new stuff and just living for the old... come to think of it, i haven't played thief: DS any where near as much as 1 and 2... Oh and Shadows ^_^;
Anyway, DS had it's good points but i was let down alot from it.. them cheap CGI cutscenes being one hell of an eye spore for me (Since when does Garrett looks like that? that's nothing like he has been showned in the past.. and wireframed hood?... you guys are moaning about what your idea of 'Anime' Style will do... well, look at DS.. there is your changes already...) Oh well, this is probebly gonna end up with me being moaned at again... I'll get back to my Garrett Action Figure then ^_^

Where'd you get a Garrett-action-figure?
Iwantone.
owait; I guess you can make your own. All you need is a Ken-doll and lots of dark cloth (& don't forget to accessorize).
