SSR FM - Through No Vault Of My Own Mar. 18/06 - by Yandros

I got an objective to set off the alarm, so the Downwinders will get caught and blamed for the robbery.
The only ways to do this are (a) to push the alarm button, in which case I get caught immediately by the guards, or (b) to open one of the safes in the vault room.
But when I do, the room lights up red. If I stay there, I get caught. So I tried climbing part-way down the ladder, then picking a safe open. I was in total darkness, above the thieves and below the guards... but the game still failed, claiming I was seen.
I thought the thieves were supposed to run away if the alarm sounded. I guess not. But how do I set off the alarm without getting seen myself, either by the thieves or by the guards? I even tried climbing down and KOing the thieves; but the moment I knock one out, even if nobody is anywhere around, the game fails the same way -- the objective says "don't be seen," but evidently, it really means don't be seen and also don't knock anyone out.
I must be missing something obvious. Any hints here?
Also, in Tanner's journal, the second number opens the door... but what does the first number do?
Thanks,
Dafydd

I found that the guards at the end of the mission only react to the alarm when the door to their room is opened. So just make sure the door is closed when you hit the alarm, go to the back of the room in the darkness and open the door. They will eventually get out of the room and then you can escape.
Where´s the secret?
Do you remember how you got to Tanner?
Um... can you be a little more specific, please?
Thanks,
Dafydd

Dafydd - The wall with handholds: start the climb, then jump over to the opposite wall and climb up to the SE corner.

Thanks, ffox, got it. I was able to finish with 11,015, the Mask of Mantu, and a bucket, for whatever that's worth. I have no idea what that last item is about, and I'm not going to chase down a lengthy thread elsewhere to find out...!
Mostly a ghost. Besides the required alert at the end, I was heard when I slid into the pool. I was too lazy to keep redoing it, to see if I could escape detection.
Thanks,
Dafydd

You only need to look to the top of the page.

I am enjoying this one a lot. Just got started.
I found a very amusing bug. At the place where you climb out of the water, go to the forward right corner of the well, as you face the room, and crouch in the corner outside the wall of the well. Then try to jump out of that spot from various positions in that small space. A small percentage of the time, you will be transported into the room containing the Mask of Mantu, on top of the torch. But then you then have no way to get out. This is a bug in the dark engine, sort of like the one that enabled Banner Transmigration. Under some circumstances, it is possible to pass through a texture surface. This means that the wall is too thin there.:)
If you want to find bugs like this in your next mission, I would be pleased to beta test it for you.:D:devil:
I found the correct way, also.
