GSC Angered the Zone...

Well there's an official statement coming on Monday.
I'm still hoping that this is all just a bad PR stunt ala GoG.

The official facebook and twitter feeds for GSC have just updated:
Quote:
We will do our best to continue. However, at this moment, nothing is certain.

How annoyingly cryptic. I really do hope this doesn't count as their 'official statement'.

Maybe they're trying to scrap together money to buy out the owner or some scheme like that. "Do our best to continue" sounds like if they do nothing it's closing; if they do something there's a chance to save it, but it's not certain it'll work.
Edit: But it might just mean they'll do their best to keep working while negotiations are still going on (people trying to talk the owner into some other route).

You never know. The assets could be sold to an Indian developer and in a few years well have "Shadow of the Taj Mahal", and the marked one will be a scimitar wielding spec ops that can shoot radiation out of his eyes.

Not likely. They're not called scimitars in India. :p

Figured I might as well post some junk as it develops:
(
https://www.facebook.com/pages/STALKER-Southern-Comfort/153859008012529) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Southern Comfort facebook page is reporting that some folks flashmobbed GSC today in some show of support.
Quote:
Sit-rep as reported by a Stalker who visited GSC this morning: GSC is indeed in a difficult situation that hinders Stalker 2 development. Rumors about GSC's immediate closure and Stalker 2 being cancelled as a result are not true. Hopefully an official statement, expectad by today evening, will provide further intel.
(
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114643-Rumor-S-T-A-L-K-E-R-2-Canceled-GSC-Game-World-Closed-UPDATED) The Escapist suggests problems getting the Stalker2 published on consoles has caused them to pretty much give up.
Quote:
Galyonkin said a deal to bring the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to consoles fell through and the projected sales for a PC-exclusive post-apocalyptic shooter based in eastern Europe weren't enough to justify the expense of developing the game. There were also apparently concerns, as stated earlier, about the current state of the game's development and some claims that GSC Game World chief Grigorovich is just "stupidly tired."
People are 'reporting' things on the (
https://www.facebook.com/officialstalker) official facebook page, attributing it to various sources and generally being useless, but this one post seems to sum up the sentiments.
Quote:
Here's more update from the Ukrainian bro who organized the supportive flash-mob and visited GSC today.
1) The rumors about GSC's immediate closure and Stalker 2 being already put on ice are NOT correct.
2) It's true however that GSC does have troubles with the development of Stalker 2. According to my intel, it's mostly caused by a lack of human resources. Money, USS, mafia and mutants were not brought up as problems during his meeting with GSC.
3) Negotiations are going on to tackle the problems. The final decision about the future of GSC (and Stalker 2) might be known in a week.
Gargh, give us an official statement already!

I thought that too. The thing is here is a lot of good IT devs, but only a few really experienced GAME programmers/designers, especially when it comes to AAA games.

There are always plenty of game artists, designers and programmers to go around, but it's all about if they're willing to pay the price.
