Also worth bringing up ITT is the recent rumor - (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/01/star-wars-samurai-zack-snyder/) which turned out to be false - that Zach Snyder was making a Seven Samurai adaptation set within the Star Wars universe. Because that would've been kinda badass.

It would be awesome if Abrams got the job. He managed to squeeze the most fun and exciting scifi film in recent history out of the formulaic grind that Star Trek had become. I cannot imagine anyone more fit to the job of saving Star Wars.
