As long as George Lucas stays as far away from the film as possible, it has a legitimate shot at being good regardless of who ends up working on it.
From everything I've read on the subject so far, Abrams got the job. And as long as Abrams doesn't start drumming on the camera during the non-action shots it may possibly have a chance at being an entertaining movie.
Maybe.
Or not.

I quite liked the 2nd Robocop film. Though it doesn't hold a candle to the first. Now the third movie on the other hand.....
Train wreck.

Regardless of my opinion that JJ Trek was inane mass-market popcorn-shoveling plotholed crap, tapping the same director for both Star Trek and Star Wars seems like the laziest of all possible lazy decisions.

Hmm? Seems to me he
loves bashing things. He probably seeks out the worst movies to see, just so he can criticize them.

Slightly more optimistic now (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1578335/) Michael Arndt is going to be involved as a writer for Episode VII, based on the fact that I really enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine.

AND he wrote Toy Story 3 as well. :D

Not so sure how well Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, and Brave will translate to writing a good Star Wars movie. :p I'll be interested to see how he does with Oblivion (and to a lesser extent, the new Hunger Games).
