I've previously had a go at LucasArts on these forums for churning out dire Star Wars games in recent years, but they've redeemed themselves in my eyes somewhat for giving us the labour of love that is (
http://www.lucasarts.com/games/legostarwarsii/) Star Wars Lego II, so I'm going to give them some slack for a bit.
There's a PC version too (although, I played it on 360).
The lego star wars games are great. I mean...legos...star wars. It's like monkeys and pirates. You can't go wrong.
Battlefront II had a lot of balancing issues, online and offline, but was a decent game I thought. KOTOR 1 was good, and 2 was great except for the last level. I've also heard good things about Republic Commando, but sadly haven't tried it. The only recent Star Wars games that didn't do much for me were the RTS games and the movie tie-ins.

Republic Commando is fun.
it's pretty easy but really addictive and the constant squad-battle-chatter makes it a great atmospheric game. the squad control is pretty basic and therefore easy to learn and master. difficulty comes more from managing your squad (knowing when to defend or push forward) than from actually fighting yourself (you can hang back in the easy settings). it's a very short game but considering it's bargain priced right now I can recommend picking it up. I played it thru in 2 sittings and was satisfied (not that I expected much).
but it has a few nice StarWars touches. LEGO SW II is AWESOME (in a nostalgic way).

You guys do realize that LucasArts has very little to do with actual game development anymore, right? All games are now made by external developers, with LucasArts seemingly acting as the IP farm. Lego Star Wars may have been great, I haven't played it myself, but that has little to do with LucasArts themselves. The LucasArts of today is run by marketing guy Jim Ward, whose idea of returning LucasArts to its former glory is removing all internal development and releasing games on the same date as LucasFilm releases.

The people who helped keep them in business? Gamers, you mean? A lot of gamers have X-Box 360's or PS3's you know.
I'm talking about in the past. Before the 360 and PS3 came along. People who bought X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Jedi Knight, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, Monkey Island, etc. were the ones who helped LucasArts' bottom line and allowed them to grow.
And who were those people? PC gamers. And now we're repaid by being left out in the cold with the latest Jedi Knight title. Jedi Knight: one of the best games ever released for the PC, or any platform for that matter. This is the ultimate slap in the face.

Redrain85, do you remember Star Wars: Obi Wan? People said the same thing, and we all know how that one ended.

Haha, sure . . . it's all right. I understand. Go where the money is. Fuck your loyal PC fan base. They're dinosaurs now, anyway.
I've gotten used to it by now. We all have. Doesn't mean it doesn't feel good to vent about it, now and then. :p

Well, Lucasarts was a guarantee for quality entertainment back in the days. they did not seem to publish games below a certain quality.
but fortunatley this had been rectified and LA is now on EA niveau ;)
about the move to consoles only ... yeah it sucks, I thought that greedy Lucas would like to have ALL the money in the world, not only from console users but in regards of a discussion about game quality this should not be of importance. Either a game is good or bad should not be decided by the limitations of its platform. You CAN however discuss if it would have been better if it would've been ported/released on this or that platform as well.

Having to update/buy new hardware to play the latest games has been standard practice for as long as there has been games. Unless you're saying LucasArts should keep making games that run on 486DX2's with 16MB of RAM for all eternity your argument doesn't work at all.
Before they started making games for PC LucasArts were making games for NES and Atari. Did they fuck the NES and Atari crowd over when they started making games for PC? No, LucasArts makes games for gamers, not for systems. LucasArts go to where they can provide the best possible experience for their audience. Hanging on to dying systems and crying that you're being left behind is just pathetic. Stop it.

I agree but i don't think the PC is a dying platform.
the move to consoles is most of the time a decision by the developer to cut costs (less hassle about hardware compatibility and more limitations to graphics therefore less work) rather than the decision to provide the gamers with the best game possible on the right platform for that particular game.
as long as the game is good I'm happy.
