Been following this project for a while, as Riven is one of my all-time favorite games - (
http://www.starryexpanse.com) Starry Expanse. It's a bunch of fans using Unity to recreate the full game of Riven (sequel to Myst for those who aren't paying attention). They actually have permission from Cyan Worlds to proceed, and Cyan is going to allow them to use some of the assets from the game like sounds and music.
Anyway, progress is slow, sounds like all the main contributors are students in school, but they did just recently release a demo showing off a nearly complete Prison island. Looks like good work so far, but obviously they have a ways to go. Demo is available for PC and Mac.

This is cool to see. It's a rare cool thing when devs of yore sanction remakes by fans out of pure loyalty to the game.

Cheers to Cyan for letting the kids see this through.
Riven was hard as shit when I played it on the PS1, but I went through it with few problems this summer on my iPod touch. I appreciated it a lot more this time. I am a lot older and saw the game in a new light. Actually had the patience to work things out properly, which holds the immersion level high. The game works poorly if you fight it.
