Status of updates in Thief the Circle ? (A Curious Taffer-Forumite's Question) - by Petike the Taffer

Hello, friends, both old and new. Hope you've had a nice weekend, wherever you live.
I hope this isn't impolite to ask, but... With Digital Nightfall employed at Arkane for several years now, will the (
http://thief-thecircle.com/) Thief the Circle website ever see a new update ?
I'm asking, because the situation is a little unclear to me, to be perfectly honest. Was The Circle generally seen as Digi's site, for both general content and his CoSaS project, and is it separate from the authorisation of the current admins here on the forums ? This is what's unclear to me.
Back in the day, when I was a newer member of the forums, I was convinced that site is the news site for the Thief forums of TTLG.com. After Digi's farewell post from 2010, though, I kept waiting. And waiting. And there have been no new updates there for years. Almost a long seven years by this point. Initially, I thought there would be the occassional editorial about "The FMs of January-June / June-December 201X" and articles of that sort, but not even those had ever cropped up. The only activity has been on the forums.
So, is Thief the Circle in permanent hibernation now ? Serving as a one-stop archive for
Thief behind-the-scenes stuff (devs and the fan community alike), but with no community news updates anymore ?
Thank you kindly for any and all insights into this. You're the best bunch, come hell or high water. :thumb: :)

I don't think TTLG has editing access in order to do any updating but I'll try and get some more accurate info for you.

Thank you, nickie. Very kind of you. :)

Well I was kind of wrong. It's theorectically possible to do some editing of the files but permission would need to be given. There have been attempts to update in the fairly recent past but they didn't come to anything as the sheer volume of work is overwhelming. And yes, it is Digi's site to all intents and purposes. Personally, I think it's unlikely it will see any updating and probably 'hibernation' is the best word to use.

Thank you, that sounds about right, what I expected. Pity we won't see any more updates, but such is life.

Hi all
I once thought that the Keepers chapel on Thief the Circle wasn't working. So i downloaded the Keepers chapel web pages, and i have them on my PC just in case.
But,i checked to see whether the Keepers chapel was working. And lo and behold it was okay!
It's seems a pity that no one can take over the running of Thief the Circle, but that's up to the owner of the website.
Thanks
Colin

I had a brief go at updating fan mission entries on the circle years ago now - even if someone were to help it's a pain to work with because the backend stuff is so old. I suspect Saam or Digi bashed that together in 1998...
As nickie says about the amount of work, the whole thing would have to be rewritten. It's a shame to see the site gathering dust, but at least it's still up.

I see. Thank you all for the info.
