Yeah, sorry. I wasn't even thinking about Sergio's little T3 concept art, but the GDC website. I haven't been sleeping right.

Just tell yourself it will be a long ass time before you see anything important or meaningful.

Sounds promising.
Didn't realize you guys had this big a problem with Thief 3's audio, of all things. The only big difference I noted in DS was that the music seemed more 'thematic', and like jtr said... 'cinematic'. Whereas TDP and TMA seemed more ambient and expressive, yes... 'generative'. (is that a new buzz-word?).

The problem isn't that big. Typical and derivative vs. signature and unique is as big as it gets.

I don't think many people realise how important sound can be or how important sound was to the Thief series.
Are you serious? LOL

I think most of the dedicated Thief players are well aware... though I'll admit as far as music goes I just turn it off, it distracts.

Dunno, I don't think too much about the music while playing TDS. But when I do think about it, I think, "A tad on the cheesy side, but Thiefy enough." And that's it, which is a good thing for TDS. Not as good as the first two games, in terms of ambient music, but it's asking a lot to top those, especially T1. It didn't take me out of the game one bit.
I did really enjoy the Overlook Manse ambient tracks, though--the out of key piano notes here and there were very unsettling. Fit the atmosphere of the mission perfectly.
If nothing else, this GDC generative music business should indicate that they're taking the sound of the game seriously, which would imply they're taking stealth seriously, which would imply they aren't actually developing Assassin's Creed IV (4ssassin's Creed?). For those of you who are worried about that, anyway.
Not that I jumped to conclusions there or anything.
