This mod is a real treat, I made walkthrough videos of all the available levels when it was released. Unfortunately it looks like Sock won't be continuing work on it, but what's available is still very good and interesting, and definitely something completely alien as far as Quake is concerned. Note that you can still play the levels the normal way too.

Yeah he really wanted to drum some new life into the Quake scene with a very professional mod but the lack of wide-spread interest has killed his desire to continue work on it. The last couple of years has been really great for modding and levels, some truly excellent stuff has come out.
I thought you guys would be interested since Thief has always had a bit of a quake-y feel and mixing it with stealth is a really cool idea.

Not really surprising about the "lack of interest". We live in an age of indie games. There's fully blown editing suites with high accessibility for powerful graphical engines like CryEngine 3, Unreal Engine 3 and Unity3D with cheap licenses at starting point of nothing. Why build a project that's shackled to someone else's commercial release when you can make a fully stand-alone game?
Things like the popularity of Skyrim modding are really an exception rather than the norm these days.
EDIT: Wait, the Quake 1 engine is open source. There's no fucking reason the game couldn't have been built as a stand-alone release, other than maybe the author be bothered to put in non-copyright assets as stand-ins for the Id ones.

Pedestal means everyone should like it or they're somehow missing out. I'm not telling anyone they should like anything, just adding my voice to the pro-Mafia pile.
I didn't like Dishonoured, that doesn't give me free reign to tell you that if you sing its praises, that's putting it on a pedestal.
From what I can tell, many people loved Mafia. Different people like different things. How is that an issue?
Me describing WHY I loved Mafia isn't putting it on a pedestal it is just giving you better justification for my personal preference than "because I say so".
I'm totally ok with you not liking it and I get why you don't. I haven't really refuted your criticisms of it, just countered them with my idea of why our opinions might differ and why those criticisms might not be enough to render my enjoyment of the game as erroneous. I've respected your opinion in all of my responses and I still do.

Er... too many refills, faetal? Wrong thread.
Not that it matters, as I'm tired of you continuing to bang the "stop telling me what to like" drum even though that's not what I'm doing.

I love Quake 1 but I don't like the look of that mod. Didn't look like there was much stealth involved in it at all, since the player had autorun on the whole time.

Yikes, how did I end up in here o_O
(you kind of have to admire the lack of typos though)
