I really highly recommend Hotline Miami, even though it has some hiccups sometimes with some systems. It's one of the best little games I've ever played, it drained 15 hours of my life.
Since it's the law that I have to impulse buy something,
*POW*, done.

Bought To The Moon on impulse. There's really no reason not to get the soundtrack bundle, since they're selling it for the same price as the soundtrack-free version.

I bought this too, didnt see the soundtrack version, dammit. Ah well looking forward to playing it tonight, heard a lot about this game.
Ok add to that Kotor2, Walking dead and dungeons of dredmor. Curse you steam sales! hah I still have games from the last sale that are unplayed...

(

I still have stuff I haven't played from the Summer Sale, so I'm gonna stay away from impulse buys as much as possible. There are, however, three games that I feel might end up highly on my Best of 2012 list that I haven't bought yet: Hotline Miami, FTL, and XCOM. Will wait till the last day of sales before picking them up though, as they might show up as daily deals.

FTL is worth paying full price for, very fun game, reminds me of the old Star Control and Starflight kinda games.

If you guys are buying games that a.) aren't from non-steam retailers and may expire or b.) aren't on daily deals and it's not the final day of the steam sale, you're doing it wrong.
I'm waiting for daily deals right now on anything I don't have from my core games/developers. Basically that just means the newest ArmA 2 DLC, the Skyrim DLC, the BL2 DLC, and the newest Double Fine game. There is a ton of great stuff that's 66-75% off though as part of the core sale. Off the top of my head one of the games I'll probably end up getting is Gatling Gears (a fantastic twin-stick shooter set in the same universe as Greed Corp).
What I've bought recently...Prototype 1/2/DLC steam bundle when it was on the weekly Amazon sale. I Am Alive when it had a daily deal on steam earlier this week. From the Black Friday Amazon sale: The Walking Dead, Renegade Ops (btw, this has the DLC included even though Amazon doesn't mention it since it's apparently a retail key), Sonic CD ($1.24 and it's a proper, non-emulated port? Sign me the fuck up), and Risen 2 ($9.99 Cheap!) all of which register on the old steambox.

I'm staying clear of the sale this time round I think. I'm still getting around to playing games I bought in last year's sales. Will we be doing a Secret Santa thing again this year? Last year's was good.

Still gonna hold out for a sale, in the meanwhile I noticed that RAGE is going for a fiver today. I told myself I wasn't gonna make any impulse purchases but for that price I'd have to be RAGING MAD not to get it! :D
