goddammit Koki please don't make me have to go get aspirin when it's not even 3pm
Op4 and Blue Shift are only a dollar, so I'm trying to get the folks who bought HL1 for a buck to buy these too.
I bought opposing force, but I hear bad things about Blue Shift. I know it's only a dollar, but is it actually worth playing?

I got Half-Life for a dollar on its anniversary sale, and now OpFor and BlueShift, plus Doom 1 and 2 for a dollar each. Nostalgia time!

The main problem of Blue Shift was the length. But at this price I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Until HL2 Episode 1 came out it was my favourite Half-Life game, if that tells you anything. It's pretty much the best parts of HL1, condensed. Certainly worth a dollar. Was it worth the $30 I spent on it back when it first came out? Ehhhhh... with the HD pack, I'd say so. Most people complained about spending a lot of money for what's really a short game- I finished it in 4 hours my first time.
You'll want (
http://www.fileplanet.com/166937/160000/fileinfo/Half-Life:-Blue-Shift---Blue-Shift:-Unlocked) this though.
I want to clarify a few things- yes, Blue Shift is
very short and Gearbox took forever in porting it to PC, but it's a fine fucking game. It doesn't really bring anything new to the game- no new weapons or enemies like OpFor did- but it's a solid game with some clever ideas. It adds a bit to the Black Mesa mythos as well and I think is just a fine game overall. Get it.

Before you do that, if you have a Half Life CD, try the "activate a product on Steam" feature with its serial number.
I bought the expansions in this sale first, then found my CD and did the 'activate' routine (on the assumption that I'd need HL on Steam to use the expansions in the first place), and it told me it was activating some kind of HL 'Platinum Pack' which I think included the expansions already.
I never purchased a Platinum Pack, but if Steam thought I had done, then it might do the same for you.
OTOH it's only a couple of dollars, so it's not like I really mind :)
dethtoll: Do you need that file to use the high-definition graphics in the original game? I thought that was a default feature? (or maybe built into the Steam HL version already??) Fileplanet hates me (the feeling is mutual), so if there's another way to do that, it would be handy to know.
I also nabbed Redlynx (
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/trials-2/) Trials 2: Second Edition for $2.50, Heavy Weapon Deluxe for $1, the R.I.P trilogy for $2.50, and Multiwinia for $5.

Speaking about Gametap...
Is there any place I can download RealMyst for free ?
I want it badly but I don´t live in America so I can´t get it free with Gametap.

YES. Do this. In addition to the expansions, you get CS 1.6, Day of Defeat 1.3, TFC, and the other MP addons nobody cares about- FOR FREE.

Gametap's a pain in the ass. The interface is obtuse (why is there no "my games" tab?), the games themselves are locked away in inaccessible files, and you have to watch navy commercials every time you want to play a game. As a last resort it's okay, but I'd rather pay a few dollars and actually own the game.
Don't you mean you'd rather pay a few dollars for the privilege of playing it...commercial free. Since, ya know, you don't actually own a game.

Thanks for the tip! I just dug out my old HL:Generation CD for activation and it gave me all the goodies :D

Ha ! I managed to install Gametap and download realMyst as a guest. And it works ! Hooray !
So far it will work as long as I choose free games.
