If you are having more fun with bots than with people, then you are doing it wrong.
Angel Dust on 1/1/2009 at 10:28
Exactly. Bots are efficient but predictable and completely useless on expert, which is the only way to play once you've got the hang of things and also a good way to find solid teams, in alot of areas. When you play with good group of people, and maybe you're not having much luck in this area, the experience deepens tremendously. I have so many war stories from L4D sessions that simply would not come about if it was with bots. I also think the fact that sometimes people can freak out, be cowards etc is part of the magic. It's the unscripted human dramas that make the game what it is and do as much for the replayability as the Director.

yeah i'd probably enjoy online more if my team weren't always a bunch of dipshits who constantly shoot each other, waste molotovs, and wander off by themselves, then complain when nobody comes to rescue their sorry asses
oh, and they always, always, always purpousely piss off the witch

Valve should stick to singleplayer games. I wouldn't play their MP games if they paid me.
Matthew on 1/1/2009 at 12:05
I don't think you have much to worry about on that score.
Edit: hurm. Should I buy Left4Dead if I'll probably only play single-player? And for that matter, should I buy Crysis when I'll be using it mostly as a tech demo?
Angel Dust on 1/1/2009 at 12:28
No. L4D is not worth it as just a single player game, it's just not what it was made for.

Believe me I know it feels, in fact I was just playing with a team just like that. Some people are just complete idiots and don't get how to play the game at all but keep at it and eventually you'll find some good teams whose members you can add to your friends. Eventually you can build up a good network of players who you know are not dipshits. I would be up for playing a game with you if you want but I'm in New Zealand so I'm not sure if that would work out!

Nobody said you were smart. Go buy TF2
right now and stop fagging up the thread.

If you care about versus at all, I'd probably give left 4 dead a couple of weeks yet. It's still buggy, and needs some balance work.

If you have friends who would be keen to play it with you, then L4D is definitely good fun. It's a relatively bare-bones shooter, so while there is certainly fun to be had in single-player (the bots are good), it doesn't hold up nearly so well as the co-op (which is what it's squared intended for, of course).
I'd say wait until it's really cheap if you'll just play solo.

Thanks for the advice!
