EDIT: Oh yeah, not everyone wants to buy an expensive OS license just for a single dedicated task.
If you're dishing out for the 1.5-2x rip off prices you mentioned, dropping another 100 cocos for a Home Premium really shouldn't be a problem.

[...] and it's more than welcome.
What is? Steam's welcome on the Mac? I'm sure it is. But if you were trying to suggest that Apple's welcome into the AAA gaming scene, I sure as fuck hope not. It's already fragmented enough between three platforms, with no guarantee that Nintendo won't return to be the fourth next cycle, and the last thing we need is another player coming in to secure exclusives.

This is the gaming platform for people who don't give a shit about gaming. Brilliant.
Sums it up. And what Renzatic says, 'zealots' is apropiate for a certain crowd.

You wanted to watch the same old Microsoft vs Apple flamewar that's been going on ever since the companies were founded?

Well, remember that Mac users are "legally obligated" to get a full install version of Windows, since the machine isn't being built with an OEM install. The cheapest I can find Windows Home Premium is (
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116766&cm_re=home_premium-_-32-116-766-_-Product) 205 CDN at NewEgg, which currency converter says is 286 NZD.
Regardless, I'm wondering if the upcoming Mac version of Torchlight is going to be synchronized with the Steam release or if they're planning some other distribution. I'd be interested to see how many games go with Valve's "buy it once get it on both platforms" model. World of Goo did it day one if you buy from the web site, but I don't know how many others will be on board with it. Especially if a different party did the porting job.

Games will be horribly overpriced Diablo2 is still 50 euro. Macnuts are even paying it. Love my macbook just not that passionately.

But it's what, 9 years out of date? OSX has always supported multiple-button mice and all Macs sold in the last 5 years at a (miniumum) have come with a two button mouse. None of the Mac's that came with a single button mouse are Intel machines and therefore couldn't play Portal anyway.
Might as well make Windows 3.1 jokes.

i'm an anal retentive nerd who hates fun. bah humbug
You forgot to mention that there's been 2-button mouse/right-click context sensitive menu support since MacOS 9.x. Oh dear, you'll have to hand in your Mac fanboy card now.

I have never had to suffer the pains of OS9, as I merely came to Mac's via work in early 2005.
But seriously, a joke that hasn't been correct in a decade? Even you can do better than that.
