Gabe Newell promised back in like late 2007 that Steam achievements and more importantly the graphical enhancements (eg new particle effects from Episode 2) made to the 360/PS3 versions of Half-Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1 featured in the Orange Box would be patched into the original PC versions.
Looks like Valve has finally done so. Christ, took them long enough. We had to wait for f*cking Mac ports being released before our games were patched.... 3 years later.
Valve can be really slack when it comes to patching some of their games. HL1: Opposing Force and Blue Shift suffered game breaking bugs that made the games impossible to finish, that were introduced in a GoldSource engine update back around late 2008. They didn't patch the games back into a fully playable state until like half a year later. Also the 64-bit version of HL2 was broken several times by various updates, each time it would take them forever to fix it. I think the last that the HL2 64-bit broke back in 2007, it took well them over 6 months to patch it back into a working state.
They're like the anti-DICE in this regard. DICE typically release problematic games and put out patches that break new things, but they're at least quick to address them in a timely manner.
So there!

(
http://www.tuaw.com/2010/06/04/os-x-grabs-8-share-on-steam/) Looks like they had good reason to port to the Mac.
8% of users on Steam now use OSX. Guess there were a bunch of people bootcamping their MBPs, just waiting for the day for someone to start supporting the Mac with a steady supply of games.
..and it gives me one more reason, one more bit of temptation, to join the cult.

Or maybe it was because every man and his dog would've downloaded Steam in order to play free Portal.

I'm inclined to believe OSX users are Mac-only people...
Yeah. Usually

In my case, I just wanted to see how it worked; but yeah, I'm not going to be playing on the Mac side very often (unless the game is not particularly demanding).
