Impressed with the nice, open plain explanation from Mr Newell, saying exactly what has happened. Eh, Sony?

Seems to be all the rage these days, with every company and service getting hacked. I wouldn't be surprised if Origin gets hacked at some point later on as well.
Seems like alot of companies need to upgrade their security.
And this doesn't lose me any respect for Valve/Steam. It's the best online games system for the PC end of things, and it has a fairly large chunk of the games released in the last few years (far less good when its more your retro game variety).
Last time it was Sony, this time its Steam. Didn't lose any money from the Sony hacking, and likely wont this time either. So I'll reserve my final judgement (as I did with Sony) when the dust settles and if any big withdrawals suddenly happen on my account. If not then they retain the same respect I have for their service.
The end

I've seen so many comments on gaming sites that are like "fuck valve, hello origin". I have too much money and time invested in my Steam games collection to even contemplate ditching just because of one incident. Hopefully its nothing major, good wake up call for Valve though.
Eh, people being reactionary tards as always. Honesty, in this age, companies getting hacked is not really a rarity, it's almost an inevitability. No matter how good your security is, if someone wants to hack you, they will. Consumers need to become aware of that, using any online service carries a very tangible security risk, much like building your house next to the sea - eventually, one day, you just might get flooded. And there really isn't much you can do to protect yourself in advance, whatever big wave you build your wall against, there is always a chance of a slightly bigger one coming along. Best companies can do is react fast and be honest with affected customers, which Valve did, so kudos to them.
