You're breaking my heart, vH. :(

'twas not meant to be :(
Still love the first one though. Also, I've actually been rediscovering HL2 lately. To the point of putting a medley of the Combine dispatcher on my mp3 player

I loved FEAR 2, though it was still basically the same game.
Did you ever finish it? You can't tell me the ending is forgettable, because that shit's been burned into my dreams.
... and I made a medley of all the zombie and headcrab noises, including the Zombines.

That's the thing, the ending is pretty much the only part about the game anyone will really remember. The gameplay doesn't feel half as good as the first game, the graphics are more cartoony, and they went completely overboard with the extent of Armacham's activities, which seriously disturbed the suspension of disbelief. In the end, I wouldn't say I hated it, but I didn't like it either. Forgettable. Except that ending that is.
Oh, and... the zombies?:wot: I thought I was fucked up with my love for Combine schizo newspeak, but this takes the cake.

sector... hhhhhhhhh.... is not secure
anyway
While I agree that sometimes Armacham felt like Umbrella, I kept playing because the game was enjoyable and delightfully fucked up, especially the closer you got to the crater. And I don't agree that the gameplay wasn't as good as the original- it was a little easier, maybe but with a Nintendo Hard game like FEAR 1 was that's actually a bit of a blessing.
That and the big underground rail fight towards the end with 500 Replica troops was a lot of fun and felt like the old game all over again. I wouldn't say the graphics were more cartoony, though- it's still pretty much the same engine as the original game, hell it even uses some of the same assets.
The story wasn't quite as good as the original, but then again it was less about Alma and more about Beckett. At least it wasn't like Condemned 2. C2's story made me scream in frustration.

You all asked for it. Last Steam game I bought consciously was HL2. Fuck Steam.
It's not like they're actively hiding that your account and its contents are non-transferrable, Mr. Righteous.

I would just re-sell the physical game that was purchased from the store. If they refuse to "activate" it, politely tell them that you will get the BBB (Better Business Bureau) involved. Do not let corporations trample your rights.

I do not recall seeing a giant sticker on the copy of HL2 I purchased at the store claiming that I couldn't resell it when I finished it.

Good luck with that.

Only a dickhead would knowingly resell used games that had one-time activations, especially to those who were unaware of the issue.
You just revealed your true nature mate and it is totally repugnant.
