Sooooo Steam seems to be doing a pseudo-kickstarter / GOG in one type thing.
I just upvoted Project Zomboid and Silent Storm.
Still wondering what to make of the whole idea. Still messy (along with the Steam client in general, wrt to the back button essentially taking you back to the start of the list - wtf), but I like the idea in principle.
[EDIT] It's a wheat:chaff nightmare as it stands.

Probably with mentioning the (
http://www.thegreenlightbundle.com) Greenlight bundle in here, which contains a few of the games trying to make it into the bigtime(onto Steam that is). I've been enjoying Samurai 2, and I just gave Gunman Clive a spin. It's a run n gun game from the old (silly) school of platforming where a duck walking into you does the same amount of damage as a bullet to the head. Also Clive restores his energy by eating cake. It's not bad though, certainly a competent platformer.
The only thing I've rated up in Greenlight yet is Project Giana.
edit: holy crap there are some astonishingly generic sounding titles in here. Soar 3D: Space Reloaded, Monster RPG 2, Apocalypse...
edit2: (

Ooooh, (
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92975821&searchtext=) Waking Mars is on there. I quite liked this on the iPad, though I think it'd be even better suited to the PC. Here's a video of Randy Smith standing in a forrest rambling about the game and assuring us he knows what he's talking by casually mentioning that he worked on TDS and DXIW:

Seriously though, Waking Mars is a good game, go up-vote it.
edit: haha oh whadayaknow, (
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93157157&searchtext=) Battlefield 3 is on Greenlight as well. Let's hope those industrious fellas at scrappy underdog producer EA manage to get their game greenlit!

Along with stuff being added by people clearly not owning said stuff.
Ran across TES:Arena, which was put there by a russian. There's probably a lot more of that kind of thing as well.

Does this mean Silent Storm was likely added by someone spurious?
Does this mean that it is a platform for indie devs to show wares and not a combined GOG-esque affair?
Would make more sense. I'm betting they'll start pulling the dodgy ones once they cotton on.

You can see who added a game. IIRC Silent Storm was added by the actual devs.
Weird, it looks like Valve pulled Silent Storm. When I rated it I was pretty sure the uploader was Nival Interactive.
Edit: Ok, nevermind, it was put up by Nordic Games. And it seems like it's there now (for some reason it wasn't listed under games I've rated).

Looks like it - it has the "fishing time" level as one of the screenshots that was one of his other games.
(Embarrassingly I bought it through Desura and never completed more than the first dozen levels or so).
