Fool that I am, I bought Puzzle Quest. Out of all the games I bought in this sale, this is the most addictive. Yes, it's basically a "Match 3" game, but dear Zeus, combining that with an RPG is some sort of act of malevolent genius.
I have to force myself to stop playing it.
In much the same way as Civ, days disappear down its ever-hungry gullet.
"Casual" my arse.
This is hardcore-mainline, chase-the-dragon gaming.

I guess today's deals are the last ones.
Total toll, for me:
Indie Fright Pack
Indie Mix Pack

Bully
Trials 2
FlatOut: UC
FEAR Complete Pack
Lara Croft GOL
Machinarium
Plants vs Zombies
Amnesia
STALKER SoC & CoP

My self-imposed shopping limit was 50 bucks but I went over that by 17 euros. Still, I've got PC games to last me till summer.

Excellent, snatched some great deals this sale;
Broken Sword Director's Cut (shame about the item highlighting though)
Monkey Island Special Editions bundle
DX + IW
HL2 Ep1 & 2
STALKER bundle
VVVVVV
Zeno Clash
Still thinking about getting Amnesia and Dead Space, although I'll have to wait till I build my new PC this year to play it (Amnesia demo won't play), although the same probably holds true for Stalker. I'd get the Hitman bundle as well if they'd just fix the damn aspect ratio for widescreen monitors on Silent Assassin (and Contracts, which is not included in the bundle, weird because it now includes Hitman 1, 2 and 4), but they won't.

Through massive power of will, I only picked up Super Meat Boy.
Although I was sent the following as gifts:
Bioshock 2
Just Cause 2
STALKER Bundle
And I did buy Minecraft.

Someone send me a gift! I don't care if it's cheap or crappy, I'll play it!*
(*if it's crappy, then only for a little while, this evening)

Is Zeno Clash a good game?
It's....memorable. I don't know how else to describe it. You couldn't say it's great at anything in particular, I don't think, but it's having a go. The fighting is fun once you get the hang of it, but that wasn't until towards the end for me. The design is utterly bonkers. The story is told mostly backwards. The setting is completely bizarre and well written for it; the whole business with the Corowids, and everyone really, being single minded driven creatures in completely illogical ways is so...foreign. Zenozoic is a weird chaotic place. Yet later when some character turns up and starts speaking reason, you've been in this place just long enough for
that to seem foreign.
With barely a word, zero bravado or macho bullshit, Ghat is one of the better toughguys I've ever encountered in games. He'll put up his dukes in front of anyone or anything, it's just what he does.
And, seemingly by accident, Daedra manages to be one of the better female characters I've bumped into in games. It's like she's femine, tough and independant without being super competent and without them having to rub your face in it. And she's wearing a big furry hat with horns (I hope it's a hat anyway). It's so completely understated and seemingly incidental. Story wise she's mostly there for Ghat to tell the story to really, but then suddenly
someone's pointing a gun at her head and you find you give a damn what happens, a lot. Or I did. I was impressed. Half Life 2 + episodes didn't manage this to quite the same degree, even though they did a good job.
I think it's all in the animations I think. Every character moves just right and has great personality in just their posture, to say nothing of their other movements.
Anyway, I don't want to over sell it. It's a decent first person brawler in a completely unique world. It's not very long and strangely structured. The fighting is a bit variable and takes a while to get used to. Some of the levels based on shooting are kinda awkward. But it's fascinating all the same. Memorable, as I was saying.

Super Meat Boy is going to kill me. Not since the days of the NES have I screamed "I PUSHED THE GODDAMN JUMP BUTTON YOU SACK OF FUCK. I DIDN'T TELL YOU TO JUST SLIDE UP THE WALL! I WHEN I TELL YOU TO FUCKING JUMP..FUCKING JUMP...FUCKING JUMP...
FUCKING JUMP DAMNIT
ARRRGGGHHHHH
ARRRGGGHHHHH
ARRRGGGHHHHH
...then I threw my controller across the room and went downstairs to smoke three cigarettes.
It's just like being 12 again. Such nostalgia. :D
Has Dethtoll played this yet?
