I don't even get these 5 indie games for $5 deals - how do they make any money? Still, bought 3! And Puzzle Bots, and P.B. Winterbottom because it's 49 cents.
On the downside, Just Cause 2 is still $5 above market price at 50% off.

A friend pestered me into buying Bad Company 2 for less than the price of dinner at Wendy's. This better be good, you motherfuckers.

I don't know about you, but I personally prefer 1942/Vietnam/BF2 to BF:BC2. Too much emphasis on unlocks to be able to compete worth a damn. At least BF2's default weapons were decent.

Through sheer volume of sales.

XM8 is one of the best guns available to Assault class.

Bad Company 2 is a pretttty game, and I forgot how much effort DICE puts into sound design. The game sounds amazing.
I ended up buying all the games I listed above... guess I should've waited for any individual sales, but whatever. For $100 I have enough to last me a year.

From Valve's perspective I think a major reason for all these massive sales is simply to capture a massive consumer base. If my Steam Library consisted solely of games I regularly play(ed)
and required Steam, it would have about 5 games in it. But due to the quirk of human nature that compels me to spend a few dollars on games that I'm never going to play, I have 58 games on Steam. Meaning I am heavily invested in their platform, emotionally as much as financially.
Stuff like the "Treasure Hunt" promotion is a perfect illustration of that (
http://g4tv.com/videos/44277/DICE-2010-Design-Outside-the-Box-Presentation/) lecture from earlier this year about the crossover of game design and consumerism.

I got the Indie Fright pack(4,90) and Prince of Persia 2008 (3,75).
The fright pack has this third person shooter called Scourge Project which, according to the reviews, is apparently quite shit, but less so in co-op. If anyone wants to team up and try this thing, let me know. :)
The pack also contains The Path and The Void. Both of which sound quite swell!
And it has Zombie Driver, which I just played the first 10 or so missions of. Fun, although perhaps a bit too easy? Hopefully it'll get more challenging further on.
edit: aaaand I've finished Zombie Driver's "Story Mode". That took me all of, what, 3 hours? Fun game, but a bit short. And too easy.
edit2: forget my criticisms about the Story Mode, there's also a cracking Tournament Mode here which is like Death Rally. Except it's Death Rally with better graphics and cooler physics. So when you hit an opponent with the rocketlauncher his car explodes and goes flipping off the track and into the scenery and spectator-zombies. It is a very satisfying sight.

New deals are up. The Witcher directors cut for $5, and Defense Grid for $2.
Damn though - no deals on games I want that I don't already have.

Anyone know if Plain Sight is any good? It's in the Indie Mix Pack but I don't really want anything else in the pack.
Also Lara Croft & GOL is 5€. I was like "weeell.... naaah" when it was 15€, I was all "neeeaaaaah..." when it was 10€. I'm having a hard time justifying not buying it this time.
