This stuff wasn't on sale earlier in the week (I checked :) ) but the Simbin Race07-derived titles are all 75% off. I prefer the stuff the original Simbin team made (GT Legends, GTR2, Need For Speed Shift) but I have Race07 and it's a great sim.

Couldn't Be Arsed To Buy It Of The Year: Arma II Combined Operations
(
http://store.steampowered.com/app/33900/) How about now? :)
Also, Modern Ghost Warfare Recon is on sale too. (check the main page and click on the GR sale to see :) )

I don't know about you, but I personally prefer 1942/Vietnam/BF2 to BF:BC2. Too much emphasis on unlocks to be able to compete worth a damn.
Have to agree with this. I don't know what the developers were thinking with items like Magnum Ammo- straight up damage boost, no drawbacks. At least in BF2142, for example, you could play as one class and unlock items for another class.
I got Operation Flashpoint 2 for $3. I heard that the main flaw is that it's buggy, has this been addressed through patches?

That's the sale I've been waiting for. Really tempted by the Ghost Recon pack for $10 too, although I used to have the original+expansions and I have Warfighter 1 and I've never really played any of them.

The drawback is you can't use any other upgrades, and most of them are a lot more useful than magnum ammo.
Anyway, Rush mode and destructible scenery + much better balancing is why I think BC2 is far better than anything else. Even after playing 250+ hours the game was still more about tactics than cheap shit like prone-diving or spawn point sniping (the only time spawn sniping is even possible in BC2 is if your team is so bad they get pinned at the beginning of the level), and the disorganized anarchy of conquest-style point capturing has almost no appeal to me. In Rush play everyone on your team is involved in trying to push the other team back along a fairly well defined line, yet it balances that by having a lot of excellent flanking opportunities.

Sooo tempted by Arma II, but after the 3 indie packs, Just Cause 2, Alpha Protocol, Duels of the Planeswalkers, Puzzle Bots, and OF: Dragon Rising,(and, oh yeah, college/work), I don't think I'd have time to touch it for a long while - and by the time I do combined operations will probably be $10 in and of itself.
I'm totally on for a Plain Sight match if anyone wants it.
BTW, anyone played King Arthur?

Talking of Alpha Protocol, the game has managed to crash four times the first time I launched it up, all of them happening when trying to load from latest checkpoint.
Aside from that problem, the game seems to have great potential.

No matter what else is happening in life, there's always time to touch it IMHO.
Renzatic on 24/12/2010 at 21:51
I don't think there's ever a moment when I'm not touching it. I mean it's portable. I can touch it wherever, whenever.
And does the new Prince of Persia still have that slappity ass always online DRM scheme attached to it? I'm tempted to get it, but I don't wanna have to deal with that.

I was this close to getting Forgotten Sands when it was on sale, before reading to the bottom of the description page and noticing the "always online" requirement. Yes, the Steam version of the game also has the same idiotic Ubisoft "always online and your game will stop if you lose connection for a second" DRM, so a clear avoid and boycott call for me.
I picked up the re-reboot instead, even though Forgotten Sands interested me more.
