Likely? They'll all be using SteamOS.
Which hadn't been announced yet when Eva made that post.

Likely? They'll all be using SteamOS. Though yeah, they're all just small PCs, so you can erase it and install whatever you want to on the things.
Much like everyone else here, I'm a little disappointed with what we're getting. I was expecting the perfect crossroad meeting between consoles and PCs. What we're getting is a PC with an alternative OS. That isn't terrible in and of itself, but I don't see it setting the world on fire. Not unless Valve has something huge planned to make SteamOS more appealing than Windows.
Yeah. Their own version of an OS strapped to an app store ecosystem.
Actually, that doesn't sound appealing at all.

That's just about how everyone wants to go these days, and no, I'm not too keen on it, either. Though to their benefit, while you're locked into one storefront, you're not completely locked into one OS.

This is basically rebranded Alienware.

Yeeaa, I honestly don't see how it's any different from standard prebuilt PC. Except it has a different OS than Mac or Windows.
Rebranding. It really does boil to brands here - Valve's name and Steam's fame is what will sell those. Is it enough for them to take off? Despite my technical skepticism, Valve does have a way of getting what they want in the end, so I wouldn't be betting against it just yet.
... or they can just release HL3 as an exclusive on it like they did with Steam and it'll be a win :p
