Oops. I misunderstood it too. I thought it was talking about the touchpads, but it was (http://www.polygon.com/2014/1/15/5313094/steam-controller-update-drops-touch-screen-adds-more-buttons) just the touchscreen they had in the middle.:erm:

I don't really understand why they've decided to drop the touchscreen, though. With the layout pictured they could still fit it in.

Of course, the biggest problem right now (imo) is that apparently neither the touchpads or the triggers can be mapped as axes.

They got rid of it because they considered it redundant based on some other feature, plus based on the feedback they were given. At least, that's what I read about it.
