Be interesting to see what you think of E.Y.E. I absolutely hated it.

Back on topic, Thief gets my sale at $5; I don't mind waiting until December for that. Has anyone played La-Mulana? What do people here think of it?
Would you pay money to lie down while somebody shits on you?

I don't know what I hated more, the actual game or the wasted opportunity.

I know what I hated most. The dumb ass "quirky" dialogue. It's like the whole thing was written by and for 15 year olds.

I just kinda wrote all that off as "eh, French".
I loved E.Y.E. for its ridiculousness.
A handgun that can shoot down gunships? YUP!
And that only takes two bullets to do so? HELL YES!
Bionic legs that let you jump so high you hurt yourself when you land? YUP!
A hacking system that....actually, jesus fuck what the hell is this i dont even
It was great. I still have very little idea what was going on, but I got to shoot down gunships with a handgun, which was enough for me.

Well so far, not much love. My initial impressions of the game, formed after playing only the first 5 minutes or so is that it feels more like a mod than a professional release -- from the cobbled together look of the interface to the over-abundance of poorly explained game mechanics. I had planned to put it on the backburner but after reading your request have decided to spend more time with the thing :)
Soon after leaving the first tutorial area, and having spent a good 5 minutes trying to perform a mandatory jump over a boulder, I decided to make a leap out of existential despair into what appeared to be a bottomless pit. After reaching the bottom, and being surprised at surviving the impact, it took me some time to realise that I was actually swimming inside of a large vat. Even more surprising still was how much of a challenge it was to climb up a ladder into the next section. And the excitement didn't stop there, with my next challenge being a tour of a single sewer tunnel without any encounters or other point of interest for over 20 minutes, before finally reaching a door (extraction point?) that appeared to be unhackable. Did I go the wrong way and have to go back to whence I came?
Anyway, more to come later. I'm late for a sleep apnea appointment so will have to come back again at some later point.

Interesting. Your first assessment of the game matches mine. It felt more like a Half-Life TC/mod than anything else, and not something that should have been charged for.
I only lasted 20 minutes with it. In the first few minutes got really pissed off after noticing that the tutorial videos (for showing you how to do various things) takes place in one of the Half-Life 2 prison levels and was COMPLETELY disgusted. Then noticed as an exact replica of a Half-Life 2 turret, but with a different skin placed on top.
Completed the first level, went to the base area, noticed the guards which were a very clear space marine / chaos warrior rip-off from 40K and was like fuck this and uninstalled. Very unimpressed.
Played better mods for Half-Life 1 & 2 and those were free.
