Based on the recommendations here at TTLG, bought the bureau. It's funny.
It really pushes the ZOMG RED-MENACE AMERICA YO parallels, but it does so wonderfully. Also, fucking everyone is smoking. Smoking SO MUCH. Pause for a cutscene? Your teammates find spots to perch, light up.
Also, in what I personally think is a totally worthwhile investment in coding, you can have your stylish fedora shot off your head, but then dash out of cover to PRESS E TO RETRIEVE HAT.
Makes me feel like Indiana Jones, only with the CIA, and aliens.
...so basically, like Indiana Jones.

A large percentage of people smoked back then, which would explain that. The world wasn't always as it is now with far few people doing it.

Well, yeah. That was kinda my point. Perhaps I phrased it poorly. :/
Nothing says 50s/60s America like hats, sexism and smoking. It's basically mad men, but with aliens and guns.:)

Witcher 2 is great. It does have a bit of a steep learning curve but in saying that, don't spend too long playing the tutorial -- it's the hardest section in the game.
Dark Souls has amazing gameplay. Once again, it has a steep learning curve so will take some time to get used to. Make sure you get DSFIX (which fixes some graphical issues) and a decent controller as mouse support is woeful.
Good to know.
My thing with Dark Souls is people have talked about it like it's a great sword sort of game. I took that to mean it's like Severance, but looking more closely I really don't think it is. It's a console fighter sort of thing but with high precision instead of the usual button mashing. So I'm not sure how crazy I'll be about that aspect of it. But you never know.
There's not going to be a controller either so that'll be interesting.

I have resisted the sale successfully so far.
It still counts if that's only cuz I'm broke, right?

I personally don't like the Dark Souls gameplay, so after giving it a several hour try (however long it took me to defeat that first post-tutorial boss on the ramparts) on 360, I shelved it and haven't bothered looking back on the franchise. The basic gameplay itself just doesn't work for me, but I wasn't able to point at any specific things that felt off, it was just the gameplay as a whole. Probably not helped by the constant deaths to things you could not have prepared yourself for without spoiling the game or having played the section before. Including the places where you can see something that resembles an enemy type you're currently dealing with just a bit off the obvious path, but it's actually an upgraded version you're meant to come back and beat up when you're stronger.
I get that there are people who like that kind of experience, and they're free to enjoy the game however much they want. I'm not one of them.

I believe it's been called "functional at best" when played with KB+M.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a must-play (if you have a dual-analog controller, I'd hate to play it any other way) and is a steal at $3. I consider it a prime example of games as an art form. It portrays things in ways that wouldn't be possible in any other medium (but I fear a lot of that would be lost with KB+M).
Edit: oops, I had said this was about to expire, but there's still a day left for it.

Once you get used to it, it's fine. There may be some button conflicts, depending on the settings you use, but shouldn't be a problem unless you plan to get into PvP a bit seriously. Same with the directional precision the controller gives you - not essential.

It's fine with KB+M, though you have to rebind the keys, because the default binding contains conflicting buttons. There were some buttons for me that I couldn't press at the same time without my PC screaming. :)

Glad I picked that up.

I'm beginning to think Dishonored isn't going to be on any sort of a daily/flash/community choice deal after all. I was hoping to pick it up along with the DLC, as I've somehow managed to not play it yet, but I might have to keep waiting. I was also hoping for a sale on Sir you a being hunted. Apart from those, my haul thus far:
Testament of Sherlock Holmes
Delver
Gone Home
Rogue Legacy
Castle Crashers x2
Metro LL Complete
The Last Remnant - this has a heavy discount during every single sale so I figured I'd finally get it
Skyrim Legendary ed. - I don't get why it's so hard to discount the individual DLC
One Way Heroics - no recollection of buying this, nor any idea what it is
Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders - yes I enjoy hidden object games I'm not even ashamed
Avernum: Escape From the Pit
Marlow Briggs
That's more than I thought I'd bought now that I list it all. Still, I successfully resisted Divinity OS and MGS Revengeance so I'm proud of myself.
