Don't know, I got Bioshock 2 as a gift from a guy at another forum, who had a lot of Steam keys for games he already owned. I think it was part of some bundle he bought.
Maybe I fucked up and bought it for nothing. But then I ask why they still offer it as a purchase, if every Bioshock 2 owner gets it for free...

Yeah, it's definitely a good question.

Minerva's Den was free if you owned BioShock 2 on Steam prior to having GFWL ripped out of it or if you own a physical copy of the game and redeemed the GFWL code at that point. If you bought the game after that or redeemed a Steam key then you didn't get all of the free DLC.
Edit: Actually, looking at the Steam store page, you get all of the DLC *except* Minerva's Den. The multiplayer stuff and the Protector Trials were apparently rolled into the main game when it switched to Steamworks.

Minerva's Den could be a stand alone game. It's that good. I myself have no regret having to buy it through Steam some time back after buying the game on disc long before.
Here's my list. Got them first day of sale.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
4.99 USD
L.A. Noire Complete Edition
7.49 USD
Freespace
2.39 USD
Freespace 2
3.99 USD
Metro Redux Bundle
9.99 USD
Homeworld Remastered Collection
13.99 USD
Homeworld 1 Remastered Soundtrack
1.99 USD
Homeworld 2 Remastered Soundtrack

Shame that I was misremembering what Return to Castle Wolfenstein was. I thought this was the 2009 release and not the NOLF era game that has even less appeal than Wolfenstein 3D.

If you like Portal and puzzle games, grab The Talos Principle, 66% off ($13.59) right now for the next 48 hours. Probably my favorite game that I played this year (even though I know it came out last year).

Not planning on getting much this time around as I've currently got quite a few games that will be keeping me busy for some time. In saying that, I've used some free Steam credit to get Terarria and King's Bounty Dark Side and also picked up Scholar of the First Sin. I was hoping that they were going to reduce FC4 a bit more than what they have done so far but it looks like I will have to wait until later in the year.

Got Alien Isolation based on recs from here (hopefully it'll actually run on my computer). Most of the games on my wishlist haven't hit the magic 75%-off mark, and I've got enough of a backlog to keep me busy until the next sale. I was hoping Assetto Corsa would be one of the huge deals, but at only 50% off I can wait another season.
Oh, and I bought something called Kairo for a dollar because it looked interesting and was one dollar.

Also, I recommend everyone pick up The Long Dark while it's still half-price. It's immersive and atmospheric and beautiful and difficult (and it takes places in the Canadian wilderness).

Bought Styx, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Prototype 2, and Shadow of Mordor. Got them all refunded except for Shadow of Mordor because they were all poorly optimized and/or ran like shit on my aging PC. This is the best thing to happen to PC gaming in a long while. Valve is gonna lose a lot of money with this, considering half the games available on their store are broken.
Couldn't get a refund for Shadow of Mordor as I reached the two hours time limit even though my computer can barely run it. Haven't had this much fun in a while, definitely reminds me of the Arkham games.

Sounds more like your aging computer is the problem really. Either it's time for an upgrade or you should resign yourself to games that are a better match for your equipment.
