Hmm anyone else noticed how increasingly... "aggressive" Steam deals are becoming? I mean in the beginning we had some every-other day or weekend deals, then daily deals, now there's "every 8 hours" community deals, and I just noticed the quick "flash deals" that may come and go whenever Valve pleases. They're really trying to get us checking their site at least a few times a day, huh. But in the end it just means more savings for us, so yay?

More savings for you means more money for Valve.
Crazy, huh.

They're promoting their (
http://store.steampowered.com/mobile/) mobile app with that, I guess? Check the site every few hours, obey, consume. :)

Brilliant marketing move. They know full well that these sales cause plenty of impulse purchasing, and that people will tend to just not look at the site to avoid making those kind of spur of the moment buys. The flash deals means you keep looking - and end up buying something whether or not you intended to.
Staggered for a new one every 2 hours....man, the Valve marketing dudes are evil geniuses.

Just got Mass Effect 2. It is really good (I'm enjoying it way more than I thought it would), but wow did someone shit the bed in terms of reasonable representation of girls. The first one impressed me with quite how normal and practical (relatively) the majority of the female crew looked. Now half my team goes into battle either wearing high heels and special butt-armour, chest-plates split to the navel, or is literally half naked. The only normally dressed female NPCs on the normandy are, so far, the fucking hippy at the desk and the doctor. What happened, did someone scrawl 'nb more boners' on the design doc while the rest of the team was at lunch? It's really off-putting.
Liara's boobs grow 2 cup sizes between ME2 and ME3. It's not subtle. I'm not a fan of the over-sexualization in Mass Effect.

Surely that applies to (at
minimum) everyone who never used a Nintendo console/emulator? I know Nintendo is popular and all, but I'm pretty sure that's still a very large set of people.
You know, you should consider remedying this at some point. Zelda 3, Links Awakening, and the N64 Zeldas are great grand games everyone should at least try.
And to get on topic, I picked up New Vegas: Extreme Expansion Extravaganza Edition for $10 last night. WOO STEAM SALES!

Really? Because I tried the Darkness 2 demo and found that they had refined the gameplay-elements from the first game and added more stuff on top. What did they remove exactly? The feature-length movies you could watch on in-game TVs? Because I think I can live without those.
I've seen some people mention the removal of the hub areas of the first game but I personally didn't miss them. Starbreeze pretty much just used the same approach as they did in Riddick but that didn't work as well for streets as it did for the contained environment of a prison. The streets were all pretty empty, of life and things to do, as well as being quite tiny and just ended up feeling like padding. Since moving in a more
Deus Ex direction with the hubs would not be on the cards it made sense to remove them. I greatly enjoyed the second game as the Darkness powers were much better integrated into the general flow of the game and story, if not exactly original, is very well told.

Yes, god forbid people actually want to
buy games.
An act of buying a game is an act of rewarding the developers for a job well done. How well the job is done decides the amount paid.
If you're buying games for any other reason with any other mindset, you're doing it wrong and most likely shitting on the industry even more.
