Clearly all of us post here because we're masochists who despise video games.

God, this thread as well as the GoG.com thread... They're not making me poor, but they're adding to my back catalogue of games I haven't played yet (today: Metro 2033, DEFCON and Uplink). Last week I had this random, depressing moment of, "Boy, somehow I don't think I'll manage to play all of these games before I'm old/dead/too blind, deaf and demented". Is that the gamer's version of an impending mid-life crisis?

Really? Because I tried the Darkness 2 demo and found that they had refined the gameplay-elements from the first game and added more stuff on top. What did they remove exactly? The feature-length movies you could watch on in-game TVs? Because I think I can live without those.
Firstly I'll point out that I played Darkness 1 on ps3 and the demo for Darkness 2 on PC. The controls never seemed right to me, though I'm sure that's something you get used to as I've recently had to with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Anyways, I quite enjoyed the tv shows (Flash Gordon in particular) and the movies. For me those were more one of the more smaller things which combined with the other things then all adds to to the immersion of the game. One of the few things I love to death in GTA4 for example is the tv shows. Though those are completely new created ones by Rockstar. I used to sit and watch the tv shows in Max Payne as well.
But my biggest gripe Angel Dust posted on:

I've seen some people mention the removal of the hub areas of the first game but I personally didn't miss them. Starbreeze pretty much just used the same approach as they did in Riddick but that didn't work as well for streets as it did for the contained environment of a prison. The streets were all pretty empty, of life and things to do, as well as being quite tiny and just ended up feeling like padding. Since moving in a more
Deus Ex direction with the hubs would not be on the cards it made sense to remove them.
I've not played Riddick so can't comment there, but the removal of the hubs was one of my main gripes. Sure Angel Dust didn't like them, but I sure did. You could run around and do random stuff, and it felt more like you were within the world the game was set in. Added to the immersion factor.
Like how in Crusader No Remorse you started off at your base/home hub/whatever spoke with people, bought items then went off and did missions. Sure straight levels would work, but hubs for me atleast had me feeling more like I was a part of it all and not just playing through levels 1 - whatever.

I had completely forgotten that The Darkness had hubs before AD brought them up. Anyway, can't say I'm sorry I gave it a miss this time around, got enough shooters anyway. Picked up Crysis 2 today.
And I liked the hubs in Crusader a lot too. Then again it was more novel in those days.

An act of buying a game is an act of rewarding the developers for a job well done. How well the job is done decides the amount paid.
If you're buying games for any other reason with any other mindset, you're doing it wrong and most likely shitting on the industry even more.
The act of buying a game is because the person
wants to play the game. Jesus fuck you're stupid, all your posts lately have been terrible, you're not even funny anymore, get out.

It's all just opinion. No need to get wound up (again)

Who's getting wound up? I'm just saying hello to Koki.

RE: The Darkness 1.
There were absolutely NO actual rewards for completing the side-quests, unless you count getting a fucking chieve on the Xbox version.

Try, "Hello" and not, "Jesus fuck you're stupid". That's how things escalate into The World's Sweatiest Man Championships

Alright let me rephrase.
"Hello, all your posts lately have been terrible, you're not even funny anymore, get out. "
That better?
